I had a red top in my 98 GT till one day I went to start it and I seen smoke coming from the engine bay. The battery shorted out my engine harness and alternator. After that experience, I went with a motorcraft battery and was fine ever since.

Wound up going with a Red Top, the $25 rebate and the fact i have a billet battery holder for optimas kept me in the family. I feel dirty.
Had a red top for four years in two different vehicles until I parked the white car for about 11 months without disconnecting it. Eventually it discharged to a point of no return. So now I have whatever I robbed from my foxbody, think its a Never-start or a Does-not-last :dontknow:

I'm using a cheapie from wally world... They were the only ones open at 11 pm when I needed a battery, but it's holding up fine so far.. But now that my mustang isn't my DD anymore, we shall see.

i have a yellow top, had it for 5 years i guess, not 2000 miles on my car in that time frame, charged it up couple mouths ago, crank the car every 3 months or so now it seems, no problems at all. and i dont unhook it, always keep the clock correct i say.x182dan said:
