what does your 5.0 run at temp wise?

So i have a 94 gt 5.0, and my temp gauge likes to run hot at the "a" in "normal". I checked the coolant and just put a thermostat in it. Do these things just run warm? I also put a fan relay in it as the fans would not come on before.

Mine runs between the O and R as well.
Your needle might be off on the guage itself.
The only to really know is to get a real temp guage. A laser thermometer might work too.

Get a real gauge.

I live in Phoenix, which is pretty much the gold standard for testing the cooling capabilities of any car. My car would regularly run over 220* in the summer time on the freeway with the A/C on.

as he said the temp gauge in the stock cluster is little more then an idiot light. I too use to live in phoenix and was having temp issues on the dyno to the point the computer was taking timing out of the motor to try and cool itself and it never got above the usual R-M area it normally rested. Then one day a few months after I did a HCI swap my oil pressure started to read low(another idiot gauge). I installed some aftermarket gauges and everything was running fine no matter what the stockers said.

Mine runs 205-10, sometimes goes up to 212 on hot days with ac on.

Thanks guys, i will probably get an aftermarket gauge. I topped off the coolant as the "low coolant" light was on, thats helped alot as i just put in a thermostat, it was low. Car has never acted up or died, so i was assuming it was the gauge. Just thought i'd get some other opinions. Thanks!

Some time zone
No point in getting a lower temp t-stat if you haven't or aren't going to adjust the on/off temps for the fan to come on (via a tune/chip).

What relay did you change? The ccrm box in front of the radiator?
