87 is all you will need if you are not supercharged or turbo'd.

however, I am going to be getting tuned for 93 to advance the timing a little more when I re-tune with my long tubes and no cats.

87 for me because I see no point in spending more for the little power I would probably create in my case at least. I DD my car too so it just would make it worse on my pockets. I only run 93 when I go to the strip with the canned tune from Bama.

You need to use 87 octane in a stock car. When a SCT tuner is using created files then that changes.
If you use 87 octane and have pre-combustion issues or performance issues, most probable cause is dirty upper intake (Seafoam it!) or ignition coil/spark plugs.

now that e85 has become more readily available if I still had my sixxer I'd be running a high compression e85 motor lol

Yeah I was just wondering if I used premium if I'd make more horse power.

you won't make more power just from running a higher grade fuel. you need to be tuned to take full advantage of the extra octane the fuel will provide.

i put in mid-grade, as that is what my owners manual told me to put in (87 octane)

no need to put anything higher without raising compression or adding a power adder.

i would put in premium when running injector cleaner, as well.
