We were talking about this in free post thread. I figured I would post it up in here.
Basically I want a shock that will be ok for a DD, and won't suck balls if I decide to go to the drag strip (which I will).
I have learned I should get fox struts and sn95 shocks?
What kind?
All these adjustable things confuse me. Do I really need 5 ways/10 ways/non-adj
90/10, 70/30, I know what they mean but I don't know what is good for me.
Keep in mind my car is pretty slammed with H&R SS and no isos. (see sig)
Oh and I am on a budget...nothing super expensive.

Re: What shocks should I get?

5 way's worked great for me. I had enough adjustment to soften them up for the strip on the rare occasions I went, and could tighten them for my normal cruise, and super firm for when I felt like that also.

Kinda of a PITA to get at the rear adjustments, but as rarely as I did it, it was ok.

I got some Tokico Illumina 5-Way adjustable Sport Shock. I love em. They ride nice and give a sharp response. I keep them a setting 5 in the front, setting 4 in the rear.

I would go with either kyb agx or tokico 5 way adjustable. for the price that you pay for a non-adjustable strut, you pay a little percentage more and get the feature of adjustability - for me, this means daily driving, turning them stiffer for some aggressive street driving, circle track, road course, or autocross, and then turning them soft in the front and stiff in the rear at the dragstrip. Their versatility cannot be spoken enough about.

The longterm plan is a MM GB kit, but in the meantime, AGX's are going in.

i have been told that bilstein fox shock/struts are the best for our cars, but it seems here that tokico 5 ways get the vote

I got Lakewood 70/30 Struts up front and Lakewood 50/50 Shocks out back. I got mine for 250 bucks. They work great on my car but I am looking to go more towards drag car. Make sure whatever you get, you get the ones for a Fox body.
