So that time is coming around again where i'll be getting Xmas money that will of course go directly into my car. what should i spend that money on? I'm thinking rear suspension, but i've got a question for you guys... So i'm driving home yesterday, I'm on it hard in first, powershift into second and it feels like someobdy kicked the car in the ass... it was a really hard shift, what should i be more worried about breaking? the transmission and clutch are brand new. I'm not worried about either of those... should i worry about my torque boxes, or is that only on launches? would a good set of U/L control arms out back be a good addition? I have been looking at the UPR solid U/L control arms... what do you guys think? where would you spend the money? i should have around $500 or so. out of that, $200 is going to my rear gears getting installed, and i'd like to spend another $96(at Arts) for a set of subframes, I'm thinking gears, subframes, and rear control arms... what do you guys think?

The gears are a given... I've had them a year now... They will most definately be going in.

Thats a great question... LOL... I got $150 from my wifes grandparents, I'll get money from her parents, and money from mine, but i don't know how much. I found a local guy that will do my gears for $175 becuase i have the install kit, and will provide my own fluid. He said he has the gears for the speedo... I'm going to ask him if he'll weld in my subframes to, I'm pretty sure he can do that... he works out of 1 bay he rents, he's trying to start his own shop.
Anyways, I'm really leaning towards upper and lower rear control arms, and possibly having my torque boxes welded. everything depends on money... but what i don't get done at Xmas, i can have done after i save a little more.

I usually recommend starting from the back of the car to the front - but why don't you save and get a nice H/C/I setup?

The Trick Flow kit is really nice or do a setup from Ed Curtis....

You can walk away with a TFS kit for about $2000.00

It comes with everything, Heads, Cam, Intake, roller rockers, gaskets, billet timing chain, pushrods, short valve covers...etc.

That would be nice, but i'll throw my situation out there... I'm in the Navy, so i make well, not a lot. LOL... my wife is going to nursing school, and we have a 9 month old son. $2,000 is just not an option right now. this kid is growing faster than grass after a rainstorm, and needs new clothes, food, and medicines, or Dr visits, so $2,000 for me isn't feasible. thats why i'm using Xmas money. i've had the car for 2 years, and haven't done much becuase of money. what i did buy('03 Cobra rims, 70mm TB, JLT CAI, aluminum DS, and the 3.90 motive gears) i bought while i was deployed. not to mention i've got less than a year left in the Navy, and i'll be moving to Houston and gogin to SAM (School of Automotive Machinsts) I plan on building a fully forged 306 with a really big shot of nitrous then. so a H/C/I isn't necessary right now. I would like to get 31 spline axles, rear girdle, new Auburn LSD, weld the torque boxes, and add U/L control arms, the DS is aluminum, the tranny is a rebuilt G-force, so really it's the rearend that needs beefing right now. I've got a set of '97 GT rims with a pair of Nitto 555R's in my shed, but i don't feel like throwing them on and breaking anything until i'm sure it's going to handle it.

Enough said right there.

When she becomes an RN then you can have the fun......cha ching!!!! lmao j/k

Like I said, I usually recommend building the car from the back to the front. Don't worry about the differential, there are guys going deep 10's on the stock differentials.

I would invest in some hardened 28's. This is a great deal here because for the cost it includes the bearings, seals, and wheel studs.

Combine that with your gears and your good to go. Depending if you have more money after that we'll go from there. :)

I'll have to email my install guy and see how much extra it would cost to install axles... i wouldn't think much, since you've got to pretty much remove them in the first place... what about my ABS... will the Exciter ring transfer over to those axles?
Yeah, 9 months... he's my world though. (thats him in my avatar with a 15lb Nitrous bottle at Virginia Speed) I have big plans for the car when i get out of the Navy, and move back to Houston... I plan on buying a 4 banger fox as my DD. Then tearing the '95 apart completely, going straight 1 bucket seat, fuel cell, new engine, 9" rearend, no carpet, headliner, bumpers, just the things i NEED. but for now it's my daily driver... when i get to home to Houston, i'll have alot more help, a garage, time, and more money. lol... plus i want my son to grow up helping me. maybe one day we'll build his first car together... :drunk:

So it's looking more and more like i'll get those axles you found LAFENATU, and also the U/L rear control arms you posted up Scott5.(I did some looking, and didn't find anything priced like that, with people to back the quality)along with a rear diff cover, welded torque boxes, my 3.90 gears, and a set of Subframes from Arts... I forgot i had my military clothing allowance in December, so thats going to my car as well... I don't need uniforms, I don't have enough time to need new ones...
