Assuming you have a 96-98 gt the only way I see this happening for less than 2k is nitrous.

Get some 3.73 gears, 26 inch tall slicks and a nitrous kit.

I would think you would still need a better fuel system and possibly a tune...so money adds up quickly.

gears, slicks, suspension and mad weight reduction is only way you will do 12's but that seems to only work on foxbodys / 5.0 liters, being you have a heavier and less power sn95 esp( non pi no offense) it will take alot more money and mods ur gonna prob need nitrous / etc.

without doing power mods, otherwise you need to do nitrous or do h/c/i etc.

Pretty much...the only way your gonna have enough balls to get a NPI slug into the 12s is a power adder or you could do Pi heads, pi intake, and a set of cams.

With the right suspension, tires, and driver skill you will have a 12 second car.

Theres tons of ways to go fast...just depends on whether you want to use nitrous or try and have a 12 second car without the cheater gas

I rather go 12's n/a, :)

Definately....I just dont like nitrous.

I feel like a 12 second car should always be a 12 second car, not just when you push some buttons and spray nitrous.

PI headswap, stage II cams, slicks, and suspension should be enough to get you there. Take out the back seats, spare, tire, jack, and the carpeting in the trunk. That will help save you a little weight.

Yep, gut the trunk, backseat, dogbone under rear pumpkin, passenger seat, front sway bar.

theres a lot of ways to save weight.

Running dumps should save like 30 lbs.

I bet that rear seat was 40lbs worth alone. The tire and jack and everything else in the trunk was at least another 40lbs. I am also running dumps and that saved a lot like you said as well. I'll be pulling my sway bars off the next time I go.

Nice, My car is at 3100 lbs with not too much work.

I still want to remove a bunch of weight before I ever hit the strip

I'm not sure how much mine weighs. It's not really a big deal to me though. I just run at the track because its fun and gives me something else to do. I'm picking up parts to build my rear end now. I tried launching on slicks and it sounded like my rear end was going to explode, and that was only at 3500rpm! It will be nice to be able to launch at 5500rpm and not worry about the rear end breaking.

I wouldn't doubt it. It will shift most of my worry to the transmission though instead of the rear end!

precisely. it just becomes the next weakest link. and with everything you upgrade, you spend more money. and the next thing that breaks is exponentially more money than the last.

12s is pretty easy if you're willing.

4.56 gear
28" slick
rear LCA
front fox springs
nitrous
tune

will run deep 12s all day long. don't over complicate the recipe.

but i dont know how long that will last. but he's right (at sea level anyways. lol) jsut juice it and get some strong "drag-friendly" mods on there to aid in controled launches, low 60 foots, and consistant performance. I also (personally) suggest a short throw shifter. with that set-up alot will be on driver skill, and a short throw will only help.

One of the local guys is running mid 11's with his PI gt lightly modded and a 125 shot of nitrous on slicks.

Any reason why you say 4.56s and 28 inch tire instead of say 4.10 and 26 inch tire?

They come out to about the same overall ratio...

Although a 28 inch tire will definately be heavier, but will probably get better traction out of the hole...but I feel like a 26 inch slick wouldnt have any problems hooking.

I guess 4.56s would be nasty on the street.

Ive never been in a 4.56 mod car so I couldnt say

from my experience, the taller sidewall allows for a lot better 60', especially once you upgrade the power. you are right, the overall gear is the same. a 500whp car is going to run through the traps right about redline in 3rd.

lol...what?

3rd in the auto, 4th in the stick...but either way, a 500 rwhp car will blow the fuck up before it gets through the traps with that setup, unless its revving to 7k.

@ 6k, redline, you would only be at like 110 mph with 4.56s and a 28 inch tire.

A lot of it depends on setup but I know my car with about 400 rwhp will be trapping close to 120 mph...which is why I have 3.73s
