Hey guys, I sold my PI intake and heads and what not. I was taking the PI intake off the npi heads on my car and I noticed this before I put on my npi intake again.

The water jacket on the drivers side has the big chip in it... I don't know what could have caused it... its so smooth and has some spots look like something struck it below the chip... anyone know how this could happen?

That looks like a bad spot in the casting that let loose due to a quick temperature change. There really isn't anything in your cooling system that would strike it unless you hit that spot with a pry bar when removing the intake manifold before. It's just such a clean break that it actually looks like how arrow heads were made out of rocks a long time ago. I think more of an issue would be where that piece went, not what caused it because it's going to either block something or tear your water pump to shreads.

That looks like a pretty big piece that came off. Hopefully it finds a low spot somewhere and lays there for the rest of your motor's life and causes no problems.

I don't know man, but I am still sticking with the idea that there was a problem in the casting. You could'nt knock a chip off of your block with a chisel that clean if you wanted to.

tape off your intake ports. remove the water pump. empty your cooling system and use a water hose and flush the entire system. hopefully the metal flushes out. little work but maybe save some pocket change.

That, I can't answer for you. But, it will have to go through there eventually if it gets caught in the current somehow.
