Well, summer is approaching slowly, and I have a crap load of money to blow on my car, aside from buying new wheels next month(Brand new wheel+tire from 2003 cobra). Im putting on some performance mods this summer, and wonder what it will get my car to run. Car is a 1994 Mustang GT 5.0L with the T-5.

GT-40 Heads
GT-40 Intake
BBK shorty headers
flowmaster 40 series exhaust system
3.73 gears
camshaft(mild one, haven't fully decided yet)
1.7 rollers
70mm thottle body

I was wondering if what this would run and would you be able to HEAR that it has these parts ie, a rough idle sound, Im going for a sleeper style car.

i would say you could be capable of mid to low 13s depending on if you get slicks,
lower control arms, anything that could help your traction would obviously help out your
track times. etc...

I was thinking mid to low 13's also. However people have run 12's with a stock cobra motor + a cam. If you get a tune you'll be doing pretty well. If you have a "crap load" of money, my suggestion would be buy a lot better heads and run a stock cam (maybe a Cobra cam). That will give you a good power boost and keep your car sounding stock. Any aftermarket cam you get is going to have some lope.

alot of money is around $2500-$3000, I am still a teen and my mom doesn't approve my of spendings on my car, but my money :p. I might not get a cam, but my dad says while we have the heads and stuff out we should put a cam in. What would it run with a stock cam? high 13s? As long as it can beat a 96 mustang gt with 4.11s stock I will be happy, i just want a little extra to try to take on my bros 2008 gt/cs.

are you talking about gt40 irons or aluminums? if you get the irons, have them milled and a good valve job and if you can do it port them yourself to save some coin otherwise just save some money and get better heads. also are you doing the work yourself?

Me and my dad are doing most of the work, my uncle is doing the gearing though. Im trying to stay away from power adders ie, superchargers, nitrous, turbo as they are harsh on engine life. Is there any heads that are equal or better than GT40 ones for the same price or less? Also give me a like to this trick flow kit, sounds interesting.

that seems like one hell of a deal! the 360HP kit sounds tempting, And it does have valve covers... I might look more into that thanks!

I just suggested stock cam b/c u want to stay sleeper. Keep in mind that Trickflow kit usually makes about 280 to the wheels, their HP numbers are sugar coated. With say AFR 165 heads and stock cam they've gotten a 5.0 to 400hp at the crank, with a tune you should be in the low 13s i'd think at least.

How much would those AFR heads cost? Hell, if putting those on it with a tune would get it to that much, then i will get those~

I have a '95 GT with:

Edelbrock Intake, 70mm TB
Shortys, full exhaust
3.73s and fresh trak-loc
Stock everything else...

I run ultra-high 13s. Your car should make significantly more power. You should run solid 13s with a bit of practice.

When you say GT40 heads realize there's about 6 different GT40 heads. It's like saying you're getting a Mustang, there's so many different ones.

The head/cam combination is what will make the power for you. These two components should be matched very well. You can go with a mild cam and get a real nice flat torque curve with a 112* LCA. You won't get a rough idle with a mild cam unless you go with a very low LCA (for the duration) like 108* or 106*, but then your engine becomes peaky in the way it makes power.

Read this article to get up to speed on cams....

http://www.popularhotrodding.com/tech/0607phr_camshaft_basics/index.html

It will explain everything you ever wanted to know about cams.

You should also read up on cylinder heads. It's nice to know what other combinations people are using but you really need an understanding of how these things work to know what is best for what you want to achieve and why.

AFR 165 heads can usually be had for $1350-$1400. If you want to flycut your pistons the 185s are also a great choice for not a lot more money and leave with you more potential.
