Im planning on claybarring my car and polishing it too but I was wondering what i should use to wash it prior to detailing it to get rid of the wax thats already on it.

dawn dish soap will to the trick

It's also not good for your car, especially plastic and rubber trim.

One of the Chemical Guy's washes...Citrus Wash & Gloss I believe...will strip off most of your old wax if you use it in concentrated form. There are some others that will do that as well. In the end though, by the time you're done washing, claying and polishing the paint, your old wax will be removed.

All purpose cleaner... or go to a Napa and buy some wax remover lol... Its the stuff they use immediately prior to painting...

I just wash the car using twice the directed amount of Shampoo. This will start the Stripping.

Sometimes i spray the car with APC before washing, this works also.

.... But my main source of stripping Wax off is a Good IPA 1:1 Wipe down.
