Not all cars read the same. What might be 210 right in the middle of the R might be 220 on somebody else's. Your best bet is to put a cheap aftermarket gauge on so you get an accurate reading.

i was going to say the same thing CC. make sure you have the system burped completely. those stock gauges suck, they are just idiot lights, the letters don't mean anything.

the stock gauges are useless. I watched my car start to pull timing out of the motor to try and cool it and the gauge was showing half way while the dyno sensors were showing 225+. If you have ever put in different colored gauge faces then they are even further off.

Its a stock cluster. Does anyone know if its hard to put them cheap temp gauges it? Just droped the car back of at the mechanics to find out where its leaking from.

straight up and down, although anywhere in the "normal" section is safe. if its consistantly high Id suggest burping the system. If that doesnt work, it may be time for a system flush.

gauges are not a horrible deal as long as the planning is done to get the proper fittings and such. I would not worry about them till you tear into the heads/cam myself as up till then it can be spent somewhere else.

Mine sits between the R and the M in city driving and between the N and O on the highway
