I'm going to be installing some subs in my vert soon, and i need to install a line out converter. should i tap the speaker wires right behind the head unit and run the rca wire to the amp or can i tap the wires by the rear speakers? which one is better?

Also the amp says to use 8 gauge wire for power. if i want to add a second amp can i just split the 8 gauge wire by the first amp or should i run a second wire from the battery?

I always recomend putting the loc as close to the deck as possible, preferably right behind it. This will minimize the chance of the signal picking up noise, that your new amp would amplify as well as makes it easy to just plug in the rca's for when you replace the factory deck.

If your amp requires 8 awg, and the other amp you add requires 8 awg then you will need to consider running a 4 awg and splitting it, or running another 8 awg. You can save yourself the trouble by running a single 4 awg down to a dist block and splitting it and then you would be ready for a 2nd amp.

On both my mustangs I put the LOC directly behind the deck, lot of room inside the center stack (especially if you are removing the OEM cd deck) so it is easy to do

I agree with Scott. If you are going to be considering a second amp and it requires another 8 awg then you should run a 4 to a distribution block.
