I'm planning on running anywhere from 10-14 lbs. of boost via a roots blower on my Mustang. I have a stock MAF and an MAF "extender" that is suppossed to prevent the stock sensor from pegging.

Would I be better off just buying a Lightning 90mm MAF and forgetting the idea of an extender? I heard the 90mm does add a bit of power...

My tuner thinks the Maf signal is better from a maf rather than an extender. I couldn't tell much difference when I was tuning. If you're going to be past 10lbs of boost I will always recommend the SCT Big Air Mafs. Great signal and they will not peg. I don't like to buy things twice. I had got the 90mm lightning maf for free so I used that last year. As luck would have it, I paid the price, I blew the engine on a cold night and pegged the Maf at 10lbs. Now that I'm almost at 600 I have the SCT3000. (the 3000 replaced the 2800)

I know the extender is cheaper but do you really want to "fool" your computer or do you want the correct signal from the right MAF?

^I've never used it or tuned it. KB always seem to have their shit together so I'd imagine it's a pretty mated combo. OP, what cams are you going to be switching to? VT Stage3 NA cams are to much for a blower car.

I'm sticking with the same cams... They're VT stage III Blower cams lol.

Thanks for the info though! So you think anything over 10lbs. will be too much for a 90mm Lightning MAF?

With your expected Hp, heck yes. I blew mine at 436rw and it seemed as safe as it could be on the dyno. I'm considering switching to the CMS stage3 blowers. I have CMS2.5 blowers right now but I'm greedy and I want the sound as well, lol. How did the 3's tune for driveability?

For the first month after it was tuned the car would not stay running for longer than 10 or 15 seconds... Then we figured out that my stock MAF was bad, so we replaced it and it's been absolutely perfect driving on the street!

The blower i'm using is a Saleen Series II. What blower do you have? I'm planning on keeping the Saleen for a bit, saving, and then upgrading to a KB 1.7 or a Series IV Saleen.

I have a T trim Vortech. The 1.7 is a good blower.

Sweet! Ya the 1.7 is what I wish I had... But I bought what I could afford lol. Have you run at the track? You said you were putting down 436 to the wheels?

I'm somewhere in the 580-600 range now. I dyno'd at 558 before LT's, and 5 more lbs of boost. Now I'm limited by fuel. I'll go back to the Dyno at the end of the month to re tune it. At 436 I ran 11.98 and the Tack Nazi told my convertible ass to go home. first run of the day with the new Hp too. I know it had 11.50's in it. Before that I was 13.6 NA With the PI engine and 15.7 NPI before that, lol.

Jeez! That's a lot of power! Damn you should be good for low 11's now then... What kind of tires are you running? Are you using the stock tranny/rear end?

NT01's as of last season trying my hand at some AutoX. I'll go back to 555's when ever there's nothing left of these tries. 31 spline Ford, nothing fancy. Let's not talk about the cluster F*** i had going on with my trans right now. Spec Stage3 clutch <--AKA the transmission killer

I should be switching it up to the Viper spec t56 when this old trans finishes screaming for help sometime this summer. I've recently learned that you always pick your clutch to have less Tq rating than your transmission. I've already spent way too much money this winter I need a break. lol
