16 FTW they speed you up

You know what i am talking about.

IMO, you should run the smallest Diameter wheel possible.... Less rotating Mass. The only reason i run 17's is to clear the 13 inch Cobra Brakes.... the only reason i would run 18's is to clear the 14 inch Saleen Alcon Brakes

Yeah I know what you mean but I'd be willing to bet some of the money wheels (BBS, Fikse, etc.) in 18's (weighing about 20lbs a piece) have less rotational mass than your 03 Koby's which are probably around 23-25 i'm guessing.

I know this is true.... thats why i wouldnt make that bet.

But weight isnt the only factor is rotating mass, the smaller diameter wheels are able to spin fast and quicker more easily. This is why Drag Racers use 15 inch rims.

Road racers like to stop.... so we need those Large rims to clear those large brakes.

..... I just REALLY had seeing 18inch rims with tint SN95 brakes.... If you have 18's you gotta have something to fill em up

I know it's about rotational mass. The more weight on the outside the harder it is to turn. So if weight percentages were distributed evenly throughout the wheel a 20lb 17" wheel would feel quicker than a 20lb 18" wheel. Sure, it would be nice to have big brakes to "fill them up." Next time I have $1500 to drop I'll get the Brembo kit so that my wheels won't look funny to you.

I'm glad you track your car, but with the amount of money you've got into the handling doesn't fall in line with NO pictures of you doing it. I'm not saying you don't do it, but we both like our cars enough to get pictures of it doing what it was meant to do. I also understand what you are saying, but I could come right back and say I hate seeing Mustangs with thousands of dollars worth of suspension mods but only a PI intake to make the 220 HP car on a good day faster...and I'd kill for some Fikse FM5's

Hey red, instead of spending stupid amounts of cash on the Brembo kit why dont you do the 13 inch Cobra or Mach Brake Kit before they double in price again?

  • I'd rather do a PI swap first so that my car is actually half quick. :dunno:
  • My car has NEVER been autocrossed yet. When I do it will be occasionally. It doesn't make sense to be pouring ALL this money into a car that's A. not that fast and B. Isn't driven like it's fast

I find stock SN95 Brakes down right SCARY!!!! 1 Piston brakes Can barley stop our 3,000+LB. car. 1 Piston brakes are OK for a small little honda hatch but now for a Huge Car like ours.

Stock 1 piston SN95 almost got me in 2 accidents because they cant stop worth crap.

13 inch brake upgrade makes driving everyday ALOT safer. After driving with Cobra/Mach brakes you realize how down right scary our stock brakes are.....especially if you dont have ABS

I know my brakes are pretty bad. I'm used to driving Toyotas and Honda's and thought something was wrong when I first got in my car. I don't tail people and don't drive it hard enough to worry about brake fade. Also, I realized that a lot of it has to do with the pedal feel. My brakes feel squishy for the first few inches of travel in the pedal but after that it clamps down pretty good. And were those two near accidents your fault or the brakes fault? I know I have been in one near miss and I would have blamed myself not my brakes.

Those 2 close calls were the brakes. They do such a horrible job stopping. Some lady slammed on her brakes one time (she was on the cell) and i braked in a proper amount of time and ALMOST hit her... i mean BARLEY. Had the same exact situation with me Cobra Brakes, same distance, Same Speed, Street Street.... and the car stopped ALOT faster... so much fast that i was amazed.

That "Squishy" feeling in your brake pedal in actually the Stock Rubber Brake lines. They have alot of flex in them and that squishy feeling is the rubber stretching.

Stainless Steel Braided Brake lines eliminated the Squishy Feeling making the brake pedal Completely solid. I think the SS braided Lines make more of a difference in braking performance than the 13 inch Brakes do. SS Braided lines give you so much feel on what your brakes are doing.
