My buddy Whitey on the forum traded his 08 GT (from the last photoshoot) straight up for this Lightning. We gave it a little clean up and mini photoshoot today, along with SilverV6 and some infiniti friend of ours ;p

It's a sweet truck!

anyhow, here's pics:

NICE...lightnings are awesome trucks. I would never trade a mustang for one...and they are completely un-practical in pretty much every sense, but I still love em :)

We are unsure if it's pullied or not, it does hit 10 pounds. We aren't sure what a stock lightning is supposed to feel like, but once the thing hits 3rd its an animal.

Lol JB, yes impractical, but he has other more practical vehicles ;p

Whats impractical about a truck? You can haul stuff and never have to take a bunch of people, only room for you and your girl:p.
I tease, I tease. Love Lightnings! Nice truck and supporting photoshoot ensemble.

I don't know how much he knows about lightnings. Just makes sure he knows not doesn't do any WOT 3rd to 4th shifts or 4th gear kick downs. The rods are junk in those things an will poke a hole in the block.

I know they aren't forged, but even if it is stock (again, we aren't sure) it would launch a rod? It's got either 30 or 40k on it.

The hood is the worst part about it, he didn't put it on, the P.o. did. It's at least an effective heat extractor, but it is not pretty. It does look much better in person :)

They are supposed to make 8psi stock setup. But there is room for variation on a stock L, some people have seen 9, but on a cold night some people see 10-10.5.
Sounds like it may likely be pullied/tuned?
If your not sure if its pullied/tuned or not, I would definitely keep od turned OFF, boosting into od is the fastest way to kill a L.

That'll come soon enough. Underhood looks flawless, it's pretty sick.

Greg, thanks for the info! Anything we can do to help prevent it aside from keeping o/d off when the foot is in it?
Get it tuned or use something to check the afr at wot, or atleast datalogged? A lightning stock is pretty darn safe, even with the crappy rods. The trouble is when you pulley for big boost increases without a tune to keep the afr safe. If all its making is 10psi I'd feel fairly safe, but also consider that on a nice cold evening that could be pushed to 12psi which would make me worry if I was unsure of the tune.

I'm assuming it has no CAI or exhaust mods? Either of those could explain 10psi, but otherwise I'd check the pulleys or see if a chip is plugged onto the ecu.

Thanks for all the info Greg. I'm sure he'll be checking in here so he'll see all of this info.

Definitely want to make sure the thing is safe, not looking to build a new forged 5.4 just yet ;p
