Because it's a very dumb move on Ford part!! Oh yes let's put a bolt under the battery where all the corrosion will be!!

Use your muscle and twist that sucka off.
OR use some baking soda or Coke on the bolt to nutralize the acid then soak it for a couple days in PB Blaster. Hopefully that should loosen it up.

I pulled my battery out last weekend and saw this too.. also broke the battery tie down thingy's bolt. I think i'm just going to move the battery to the trunk and rip all the **** out.

My car has a million miles and I've personally blown up a battery in it and my bolt looks fine....

take some gasoline and pour it on it, light it with a torch. The heat will loosen the bolt up.

Mine was crusty looking but nothing like that lol

If his is anywhere near as bad as mine that won't work. I tried grabbing mine with a crescent and the head completely and utterly disintegrated. Now it's just a cone shape.

So I managed to work around it, got the new coolant sensor, caked it with sealant, got my new power steering hose as well which is why I was needing to remove the try but oh well. Got the new hose in just gotta tighten up the pump then put the belt back on and test it out. Might finish it when I get off work tonight

Mine was almost that bad. It was literally the only bolt on my car that wasn't in prestine condition. Its weird how corroded that bolt gets.

i removed mine (gallons of WD-40, i think. lol) and ran it through the parts washer, then through the sand blaster. It was in rough shape. I taped off the bottom threads and spray pained the top threads and washer/bolt head.

That area was the WORST in my engine bay. lol

Glad you got it out. Mine was fine no corrosion, but I did find some pinestraw stuck between my battery and the battery platform lol.
