I don't know if it's cause of my stiff springs or my subframes and matrix brace or it's just that my car is getting old. I fixed my door lock on the passenger side and now I have a rattle over there that seems to be under the side view mirror area. It rattles even when I am only idling.

Then after I fixed that lock I noticed my passenger door squeeking when I would open and close it so I sprayed some white titanium grease on the door hinges... it fixed the squeeking but now the door makes a popping sound when I open and close it.

It's such a sweet looking car but I'm afraid it's getting "Madonna syndrome"... Was hot while it was young but all good days must come to an end.

Mine has always been relatively tight and rattle free.

I suggest removing the inner door panel(s) and looking for anything that rattles. Might drive it a few days to get a better idea of what's going on in there.

As for the door creaking during open/close, keep the hinges lubed up. Good 'ol lithium grease is what most people use. You might try STP. It hangs onto the hinge parts very well.

When you open the doors all the way and look at the hinges, do you see the small detent "roller" on the bottom hinge? When the door is held open as far as it can go, the roller is released from the detent arm and will spin at this point. Spin the roller about a 1/4 turn, lube the hinge up again and the poping will normally go away. This gives the detent arm a new area on the roller surface to wear on. If it still wants to pop, try it again.

Always worked for me. Good Luck.

My convertible squeaks and rattles so loud I can hear it over the exhaust. LOL

My coupe isn't that bad because it's mostly stock and everything is nice and "worn in."

Big step up from my Bronco rattling wise, everything in it (and i do mean EVERYTHING) rattled like a mofo. My car is no where near as bad. The only thing that rattles in my car is the change. I need knew door hinges though, my doors droop and make a not so nice sound when you shut them, but once it's shut, its good.

WD40 on the hinges is a good thing :). The only squeek is from my slopped out LCA which i will replace soon. That and my e-brake cable rubbing on my driveshaft, but I push the bracket up with a 1/2 inch ext. every month or so, so that sound only happens when its loaded with 4 people. other than that, its a 14 year old car, it is quiet for its age.

My cars pretty tight only squeeks a bit due to no rear iso's and the front i need new balljoints once in a blue moon it sounds like a mouse is getting stepped on up there.

We jack the car up, then use the jack to push up on the bracket. Downfall is the bracket WILL fall down if you use your e-brake, which is why I put it in 1st when I park. We are going to put sheet metal screws in it when I do the interior/put in the driveshaft loop.

I feel like i ride with a snare drum in the back of my car if i have a piece of paper laying on the back seat. Every little bump reveals a creak and knock and i kinda dig it sometime ha. But hey, it was free and looks good other than the huge tumor that my dad called a hood that we put on it...

the 98 is so much quieter than my 84 drop top which was perfectly restored
the only thing is i get a really strange thud from the right rear on the 1st stop i make after jumping in it to go somewhere, after that it never does it again. nothing is loose, nothing is bent and nothing in the trunk.
