Widest rear tire on fox-body Mustang?

My buddy is asking, he has a fox-body Mustang and I have no idea. I'm sure one of you guys knows the answer..... Let's say on a 17x9 rim.

oh yeah, and he doesn't want to have to modify the tire well or fender or anything.... just how big of a tire can the stock set up handle on a 93 gt vert?

I'll say 275 not knowing the backspacing/offset of the rim.

Anything bigger then that you usually need to roll the fenders, flip the quad shocks ect.

i would like to say a 275 40 17 M/T but it is just a tad narrower that 315 nitto. But i don't know if there is any difference between what can fit on a hatch or a vert.

I had 295 15inch on my 91 with the quads OFF

yea but the car is a vert so i'm not sure. But the 275 M/T runs pretty wide for the size.
