I think I remember hearing that flanges are different, and it'll be missing a few hangers.

Yes, but you wont have hanger's.
Do you know that as a fact? I'm almost sure that when I was shopping for a mid-pipe I was told NUMEROUS times that a 99+ pipe had different flanges on it, and would not work. I'll try to find the thread I started on it...

Yep, I had one on my car, no one told me. It had to go when i got a T56. Do a search, since this question get's asked about every two months or so, been answered a dozen other times.

impossible that the flanges are different.
frpp shoty hearders are made for 94-04.
which mean the flanges will be the same on the stock mid pipes.
Anyway got the pipe. I'll be installing it May 23rd.

The flanges are actually slightly different. When I did my PI engine swap, the driver's side donut was smaller on the PI exhaust manifold. But it was a small enough difference that I imagine either midpipe would work. I don't know why Ford does stuff like that, changing little stuff that wasn't broken to begin with. But the more you work on these cars the more you find little presents that the engineering staff gave you.

Same here. I had to use the manifolds from the 98 NPI engine. The 01 mani's wouldn't work.

cant you just take it to an exhaust shop and have them weld a piece of metal on where the original hanger would go.

The pipe itself is bent differently, but yes, you could fab up hanger's easily enough, I never needed them though.

very hard.. the 2003 hpipe was much wider than the 96-98.
even if you fab something still might hit on the transmission itself.
Im thinking the
99-2004 midpipe will probably fit if you get a 99-2004
transmission and crossmember.
are the 99-2004 transmissions different from the 96-98?
can anyone verify this?

I musta been mixed up with the flange thing, but I knew there was something that stopped the 99+ pipes from fitting. The issue you've got must be it...

The 2000-2004 uses the 3650 vs. the T45 in the 96-99/00. I don't understand why it's not fitting, what is hitting where? I had a regular 99-04 BBK h on my car for quite awhile, and I'm not the only one either.

like I said the 2003 stock hpipe is too wide for my car.
at least an inch and a half on each side.
cats are longer and wider too.
probably because there are only 2 and 96-98 midpipes have 4!
(the other 2 on top are not cats they are resonators,
96-98 have 2 of those also)
that causes an issue with the crossmember because the
cats fall right where the crossmember bolts on to the frame.
The midpipe will bolt to the shorties. but bent a little different on
top probably cause 2003 have different transmissions.
Im sure the 2003 hpipe will hit the tranny near the headers.
Then there is the issue of the rear O2 sensors being further back
on the 2003 hpipe but that is easily corrected with extensions.
the conclusiont is: Can't be done !
