So one of the drawbacks of having a car in Iowa, is that squirrels decide they want to chew on wiring on cars. It's been like this since I got it a couple of years ago, and I really want to get it fixed. Does any one have any suggestions for fixing these wires without replacing the whole thing? There are 6-7 wires that are chewed off.

Sorry about the quality, I was pinned under the car trying to hold a flashlight and take pictures at the same time.

This one shows the distance between wires, its probably at least a 6 inch gap

Again, crappy picture, but shows where it is chewed off on the front side of the cable harness, right about where the wires split from the negative lead from the battery

This one shows where the wiring goes to the back of the motor... I can't pull it out much, so trying to jump the wires with connectors is going to be a challenge

Thanks in advance guys!

All of the wires are color coded differently.
All you need to do is peel back the protective material to expose the wires.
match and splice.
You might need to loosen the clamps on both ends of the bundle to gain more slack to make the splice.

The other option would be to get another harness and swap it out.
good luck

Thanks, I think this is gonna be my saturday project.. need to go pick up some wire loom to throw around it when i'm hopefully done. Is electrical tape the best option for mending the shielding around other exposed wiring, or is there some goop that I can put on there that will seal it up?

To do it correctly, you need to soldier the connections together.
Heat shrink tubing is the best stuff to use, Just remember to put the tubing on the wire before you soldier it together.
Electrical tape won't last under the hood.

Well, I got them all soldered together, and heat shrinked everything I was able to. Lets see if that takes care of my check engine light lol... if not, I guess I have more projects to take care of next weekend...

I haven't had the CEL code read yet, but I found that it was the harness going to the o2 sensor right before the cat on the drivers side, there was also a wire that led to the Engine Oil level sensor that I jumped and soldered too. Gonna take her out for a spin today and see if the light goes off. Not sure if I have to get it cleared, or if it will go off on its own... I haven't ever cleared a light before, so i don't know what all it entails
