Would an intercooler be safer?

I recently bought a 94 GT that has a 98 cobra drivetrain in it. On top of if the previous owner put a V1 pumping 10lbs of boost. I thought this was pretty scary personally but its all been properly tuned. A ford engineer who helped design this motor actually was at a local tune shop and did it to his discretion.

My question is you think intercooling would help or hurt it my chances of connecting rods going through my block? :crybaby2:

i'm with blown on this one, the stock cranks were rated at around 450hp max so with a great tune you're just postponing the enivitable... a intercooler will lower the amount of boost you see and drop the air temperatures but you'll probably need a retune after that and with an intercooler the car could possibly make more power..

If I was you, I'd swap to a lower PSI pulley and get the car retuned until you build it up.

when i bought it i was told it had the smallest pulley. I could just put it on a real conservative tune though

depending on your current tune and engine setup you could be safe.

its a 98 cobra motor with a v1 at 10 psi...i was told it was a conservative tune, it runs only 11 degrees of timing

meh, 11 degrees of timing, non intercooled 10psi, doubt it made 473rwhp....

on a dynojet that setup should make around 425-450 on a COLD pull. on a normal temp pull 400. not enough timing to make good power in the heat. i'd have it dyno'd to be sure its safe....

it was on a dynojet but itll go to the mustang dyno soon. I can put a bus or 2 on my buddies 03 cobra, pulley and exhuast, after i get done spinning through 2 1/2 gears so its highly likly it has that power. Oh and his put 397 on a mustangdyno
