MAF: round piece in the middle of the intake track with wires running into it.

remove it from the intake track and gently spray it with the MAF cleaner.

IAT: small "thumb-size" sensor in the top half of the intake plumbing with one wire running into it.

removie it from the intake track and gently spray it with the MAF cleaner on both sides.

Air Filter: inside the large "football-shaped" housing on the passenger side fender, or inside the fender if an aftermarket set-up is used.

Remove and replace paper filter. If using an aftermarket oiled filter, remove wash, let dry, re-oil, let dry, place back on car.

Throttle body: small metal housing located after the intake plumbing, but before the plenum. Has a sensor on it and also has the throttle cables attached to it.

Remove intake plumbing. Keep butterfly flap closed. Spray inside (with flap closed) with throttle-body cleaner. wipe with rag if desired.

If an aftermarket Throttle body and plenum are in use, open the butterfly flap and lightly spray the isnide as well, use a rag to wipe off excess Throttle body cleaner.

Plenum: Located after the throttle body and sits atop the intake manifold. Roughly the size of a box of checks.
Do not wash your OEM Plenum. If an aftermarket plenum is in use, see previous steps for cleaning an aftermarket throttle body.

Intake plumbing: The tubes running from the air filter to the throttle body.

Remove the sensors and remove the pipes from the vehicle. Inspect for damage and inspect the inside for motor oil. THe PCV system, on occation, allows oil to enter the intake plumbing. Clean out the tube with Throttle body cleaner and wipe it clean with a rag.

Battery terminals: Metal posts located on the top or sides of the battery.

Remove cables. Remove insulator cover. Remove felt washers. Wipe with rag. Use baking soda and water solution to remove corossion off terminals and ends of cables. Apply new felt washers. Apply petrolium jelly to the terminals and calbe ends. re-apply the insulator cover. Re-apply the cables.

Inspect all wiring for corrosion/breaks/damage. repair as needed.

IAC: located on the front of the plenum. small cylinder shaped unit.

Remove wires. remove two bolts. remove IAC. Clean with MAF cleaner. reapply unit to the car.

o2 sensors: located inside the exhaust pipes. 4 come stock. remove and inspect them. If you hear them "rattle" like a bad light-bulb, replace them. Inspect wiring for damage.

that will start you off... :)

The IAC is not serviceable. Just replace it. I've tried cleaning many of them and the only thing that works is replacing it.

the green box = throttle body.

your MAF is further towards the air filter. you cant see it in that pic.

and new IACs run about $50.00

I hope you're kidding but if you are not, The Green "Rectangle" is your Throttle Body and your Throttle Positioning Sensor (TPS for Short). (The little black thingy)The throttle body (Tb) has a single blade that opens and closes when you push on the peddle. The TPS micro meters the air flow for smaller idle adjustments by ever so slightly turning open the TB blade. THIS CAN BE HINDERED by dirty and oily gunk that builds up AROUND sealing points of the Tb. (If you haven't clean this yet, do that.) If it's really bad, it can make the Tb blade stick closed.

The IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE (IAC) can not be serviced. Replacement is you only option. If you do not have a CEL it's "more than likely" not that. In some cases of course it can be but always start your trouble shooting with the cheapest replacement parts first. (This includes, free cleaning of the Tb.) This handles the large metering of air flow from the point where you let off the throttle and the idle falls down to range.

Your Mass Air Flow Meter (MAF) in it's stock location is on the far end of your intake tube and round, black and has a wide 5 wire harness plugged into it.

Also, I wouldn't recommend trying to do a write up for people when you don't even know what a Tb is. I'm not hackin on you, just being honest, no matter if I'm coming across as a jerk or not.

The Mass air sensor is the pretty black box the green arrow is pointing to

massair129.jpg

The silver part combined with the black part is the mass air meter, the black part comes off by removing the torx security screws and then it lifts right off. You will see the sensor wires. THEY ARE VERY DELICATE. Do not touch them or clean them with anything but mass air cleaner spray.

You might have a vacuum leak or bad diodes in your alternator.
