This on a non mustang. I was changing the brakes on my own for the 1st time ever. I got the problem side done 1st and everything was going peachy. I got the other side done and everything was going smoothly. The problem started when i was re-installing the caliper slide pin. I greased it up and was torquing it down and right when i started applying a good amount of pressure the bolt slipped and now it just turns and turns and turns. I took the slide pin off and notice there was a metal wiring on the thread part of the bolt and the other brake side doesn't have this wiring on the tread part.
WTF. So now im guessing the $200+ i spent 2 years ago at a crappy shop wasn't even worth it. I have a good feeling the shop stripped my caliper and added some type of wire to the slide pin bolt to get it to tighten up. I took the metal wiring off UN-aware at first and it still just spins and spins.
Has anyone ran into this problem before? Im guessing i need to get a new caliper bracket now.
^^ Is this the only quick solution to fixing this or can a car garage temporary fix it till the next brake pad change?
I just need a quick temporary fix cheaper than the caliper right now. Next pad change i can just buy the caliper.
How much would it cost to get something like this fixed with the same wiring?
