i went to wyotech and graduated in 2004.its a tough call honestly.personally if i was asked if i would do it again i would say no way bc for me it didnt do all that much,i wont say i didnt learn things there bc i deff did but for what i learned compared to cost, was not worth it for ME.it costs 20 grand to go there, then you have to factor in living expenses which is like another 15 grand bc you will NOT be able to get a job while attending school.i tried and that was my plan and it did NOT work out at all.The are they put the school in for one,has next to no places to even work at,next thing is all the local ppl get first dibs on the jobs and the local businesses do not like hiring the tech students. The program didnt do much for me bc going into it i already knew a fair share of automotive knowledge.i have been around cars all my life and everyone in my family is always involved with them so i picked lots up over the years. The person that would benefit from going to this school is someone who has a very brief knowledge about the automotive industry and has never attened a vocational program while in high school.in that case i'm certain you will leave with a new found knowledge of the industry.the reason i say if you HAVE NOT taken vo-tech programs is bc to be honest, the major classes you take there will be generally the same exact stuff you learn. The specialty elective classes like chassis fab/high perf engines/street rod and upholstery anyone will pretty much learn from while there too. Also do not expect to leave that school and jump into a job makeing good money.its not going to happen unless your one of the few ppl that luck out and get with a big name deal or nascar group or something along those lines. All places are pretty much going to treat you just as they would if you never went to school. In this industry nothing compares to on the job experience and thats whats going to make you money, your time invested in it.hope this helped some ppl out but its deff a person by person basis on as far as if its a good choice or not but if you read thru what i just said and ask yourself those questions you'll be able to make a good choice i think.
