has anyone tried to put vert 1/4 windows in a hard top. is the harness already there? list of things needed: windows and tracks, switches for back and dr. door, interior molding, seals.

I've wondered a/b this, too. You're wanting to be able to roll down all the windows so that there's nothing b/t the A pillar and the C pillar, right? Like musclecars in the 60s/70s? That'd be pretty sick.

exactly i like subtle mods that look stock but only somebody in the know would be able to tell the real truth

So you're a car snob too, huh?
I think it's awesome when someone stacks up the little details that grab the attention of normal people, but they don't know what's different.
Or the small differences that stop a real car guy dead in his tracks when everyone else just walks by.

To me these mods are the antithesis of "ricer" mods. Those AutoZone kids don't spend money on anything that won't get EVERYONE'S attention.

That would be really cool, but I wonder if it's possible without a lot of effort and skill.

nope, not exactly impossible, but extremely hard to do and you would have to come up with your own kit. the quarter windows on the vert are different shape and size compared to the quarter windows of a coupe. its not impossible, im sure you can get the sliders or whatever off the vert and modify them to make them work on the coupe windows....but then you have to mount the motors somewhere, which would be difficult to do.

is it impossible? nope. will it take a lot of work and a lot of fabrication? you betcha.

i do have a little ace in the hole though. my dad is a body guy so i'll be getting a lot of help from him. he had a 94 gt vert. that he put 4 more hood vents in the hood for a total of 6 (3 on each side )right in the hood line like the stock ones. they looked like they belonged there. other mods were cobra front and rear, side skirts with side exhaust. all painted a gm black because it's a truer black. (ford black has some brown in it) the car was sick I'll have to get him to dig up some pics to post

that would be sick if you can do it. Maybe there's a way to get it all to work with the existing 1/4 windows? Would you be against manual windows? Sure, you'd have a small handle, but it's less space taken up than by an electric motor.

idk just throwing ideas out there... I'd love to see this idea go somewhere!

I never put my top down but I always have all four windows down. It's my favorite part. Going to keep my eye on this.

1st, the windows. There's a B pillar that's masked by the 1/4windows on coupes, so even if you could roll up/down the window, there'd be the bar there to ruin the effect. that's why it seems that we need something like the vert windows -b/c they seal against the door windows. If the vert windows are a different size/shape then how hard is it to get custom glass cut? Hot rodders do it anytime they chop a top -I wonder what this would cost?
2nd, the motors for pwr rear windows. Why would this fit in the convertible and not fit in the coupe? Where do these motors go?
3rd, the interior trim. This trim (above the window) would have to be fabbed, but I guess it could be done in foam or fiberglass and then covered in vinyl (if matching the factory panels was important to you).

I know that b pillar is going to be tough and the trim panels inside too. I think the windows could be cut or made since they are flat and put the vert seal on them and the seal at the roof would have to be fabed and the slot for the windows to go into with the felts too. motors and tracks-idk if there is room in there or not, i'm leaning toward yes but IDK. i haven't really looked yet

pretty sure the window glass is the same. And from what i can tell the panels that hold the vert tracks for the 1/4's are the same as on a coupe. So basically i think it will bolt up, however you just have to get it all to work correctly.

One thing you are all forgetting, is that they made a hardtop convertible, and all 4 windows will roll down in them. If its possible with that, then its possible with this.

The HT Vert was still a vert body and interior. It just had a hard top instead of the soft one. There are only 500 HT Verts.
