Get this mammajamma finished up ! Be able to deck a 11".....maybe a 13" path. Depending on how i design it. Ive picked up a set of .250" radius cbn cutting inserts and im still in thought about how i want to mount them. Alot of me just wants to stick them in the flycutter body and setscrew them down, but i also want to maximize the my potential for anything that comes into the shop, like diesels. Ill keep the thread updated as i progress.

Start with an "M" series carbide insert first before CBN. Check for shock loading tearing up the carbide and ridgid insert holding. Make your mistakes SMALL before blowing up an expensive insert.

Even with that big bar the repetitive shock loading is going to pound the insert bed. Look at the MSC catalog for insert bed backing plates that match the same insert used and make the bed twice as deep for room for the backing plate.

I dont plan on sinking the cut when facing! .010 at most. I get what you are saying tho....the other idea i have would integrate the ideas you just described. Make seats thatll bolt to the ends that will hold a common insert. If you look up rottlers flycutter, youll see what im talking about. Its definitely the direction i need to go!
