Hate to be this guy on the forum already but i shall ask anyways.
Car info: 1994 5.0 Cobra all stock. Sat for 3 years :/ just had all the fluids changed and water pump redone

Here's the deal: my car dies when the revs go down. basically if i tap the gas the revs go up then come down and it will just poop out and shake then die.

This is super hard to explain. if you know what im talking about maybe let me know

Thanks in advance,
Douglas

sounds like a vacuum leak. from sitting that long, an intake gasket may have rotten away, or a vacuum line, etc. etc. etc.

Agreed 100% go over all your vacuum lines I bet you have some that are rotted out or have holes in them. They're really cheap and easy to replace and it's the best place to start

Would you know where to get these vacuum lines by any chance?

Like stated above . Vacuum line can be purchased from any parts store ... Checked for cracked lines coming from the vacuum tree mind you there is only 3 hoses coming from there ... Could be the Iac bad maf .... What was all done to the car after sitting for 3 years ... Did you change the fuel filter plugs wires etc . Or did you just try and put gas in it and run it ?

After sitting for three years all I have done to it so far is change the oil, and the coolant and the water pump and the thermostat.

Welcome Pueblo CO!

Vac lines as stated or IAC is probably your problem. There aren't a whole lot of lines on these cars, so it shouldn't be too bad. The 1st one I'd check is the PCV which sits at the back of the lower intake.

When I bought my Cobra in the spring it ran lousy, and I chased the vacuum lines, PCV valve, and tune up items. My problem turned out to be a combination of filthy MAF sensor, if you have a K&N I'd check that first, and then I changed the fuel filter, and then I changed the O2 sensors. My recommendation is check the free things first and then work your way around based on price. Also, did you get any codes?

Start with the basics. You only did half of the revival.
Replace the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, clean the MAF and IAC.

Did you pull codes? You can have one set without the CEL being on.
If you have a Haynes/Chilton manual, have a paperclip and can read, you can pull the codes yourself.

I will get the plugs and wires done today. I'm fortunate enough to work for Pueblo Toyota, and I made friends with the mechs in back so they let me work on it in there use the lifts and tools and what not. Yesterday one of the mechs actually came over and helped me out a little. He said that my car was starving for air, so most likely IAC or MAF. thats just what he said.
Thank you all so much for your help!
