The ZR1 is awesome, but good luck getting one. My uber-wealthy friend (who owns over 30 cars) tried to get one and couldn't.

anything is possible... its all about time and money, one of which your friend did not have (no offense meant towards your friend)

even a zo6 is an insane car.... and those have been sitting at some dealerships lots, the one at the dealer i used to work at was sitting on the lot for over 5 months (they were assholes though)

Dude, he's got one of only 48 Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series in the United States. An Audi R8. Boyd Coddington's Lead Zephyr. Reggie Jackson's COPO. He's on the pre-order list for the new Gullwing Benz. (to match his old one)

He has plenty of "pedigree", time, and money. GM wasn't interested in selling him one. Since then he's had the opportunity to get one on the secondary market, but the initial experience left such a bad taste in his mouth that he doesn't want one anymore.

Yes, but the S-197 mustang is not just a straight line performing car. It won the GT4 European cup, and the Grand am Koni challenge... twice. Besides, these aren't fox bodies anymore. Even when the S-197 came out in 2005 it was considered inferior because of it's solid rear axle, but it has proven to be a very good race car. Easily competing with Porsches on the race track. Thats just something to consider.

Something else to consider is that the SN95 mustang made history with the Saleen rrr (mustang 351) in 1997 at Le-mans. It may not have gotten first place but it did beat more than one Porsche 911, a McLaren F1 GT-R, a Viper, Callaway corvette, and an assorment of other cars. Even though a Porsche won the race, I believe the SN-95 faired pretty darn good, and is the reason I like them.

Even though I'm all for Mustangs and whatnot, using race cars to compare any sort of production car is completely retarded. They might share the same basic components but they are nowhere near the same as something you can go pick up from the dealer and drive home. Porsches are much more refined cars than a Mustang will ever be. You can slap go fast parts, leather, and a shiny new bumper on it, but its still a Mustang. I love my SRT4 and all, but guess what? It's still a Neon. Same with this 460X. You can do whatever you want to it and its still just a Mustang. A nice, expensive, fast Mustang. The 460X could outperform a Porsche, I have no idea. But honestly, I'd rather be in a $90k Porsche.

heres my view on it. If you can have it, thats cool, but i really dont give a crap about wanting one. Im happy with my old orange 96 Boss. It'll end up being far rarer than those saleens anyways. There not like the old shelbys and that, they make so many, its just a car anymore.

Porsche > Ford

I think you may have forgotten that it took Ford dropping out of racing for Porsche to finally win La Mans.

I have to say, Ford at its best is better than Porsche at its best.

But in the german world, Porsche at it's best is better than BMW at it's best.
