Are you crazy? He doesn't have a fraction of the racing pedigree that Carroll Shelby has.

LMFAO. $85K for a MUSTANG!?!?!? They're on crack.

You say that like it's a black 95 GT that can't break a 13.5 in the quarter.

Just messin'........Who would pay that much for any car that makes 600ft lbs. of torque right off the assembly line?

Steve saleen left saleen because they were screwing customers over with warranties and what not. sms is a whole new brand. Has any one seen the sms camaro?!? He also said that there were things he always wanted to do with the saleens that never made it to production. so the sms's are going to be beastly(but will prob never be driven by owners in a manner which youll get to see it.) that price is recockulous.I picked up a random mustang mag in a gas station and it had a interview with steve on the birth of sms supercars.

Correct

That SMS car above is not the 2010 Saleen and not sure if Saleen inc is actually making cars anymore or just selling parts.

Steve Saleen and SMS are a completely different company than Saleen now and Steve Saleen worked on the Techo Blower so thats probably what is on that car above.

i think Saleen (company, not Steve) is still going to make cars, the last pic is saw showed a very bland car though.

Most people on this board can't get their car to run 13.9x (which my daily driver did) with more mods, less weight, and more money. I rule.

Bottom line, no way I'm paying eighty five thousand bucks for a new car that has a $20K sibling.

what if it was a pushrod? Would you rather spend 65+ on a '99 S351 or $85 on the new 460X?

S351s can be had for $25-30K on eBay pretty regularly. And yes, I'd rather have the pushrod. Every time.

well the one just posted on eBay was 60g... and that was for an 11 year old car vs a brand new pile.

Wow they managed to make the ass end look good! Kudos! Nothing more I can add, it's all been said. Besides the fact that I don't like the name of the company which can be easily confused with a mobile phone term (short message service)

Not to mention, that automatically advertises texting while driving which, as we all know, causing accidents and death turning the mustang once again into a Death Machine! Total marketing failure, it won't sell and that's not because it's way overpriced.

Just because somebody posts a car for a certain price, doesn't mean that is representative of market value. Nor does it mean it will sell for that price. Further, it's $58K, not $60.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-Mustang-1999-Saleen-s351-Silver-HT-6sp-not-Cobra-Roush-Shelby_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem3355bf4fc6QQitemZ220481933254QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucks

Finally, here's a great example of one for $35K asking price.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-Mustang-Saleen-S351-1998-Saleen-S351-Coupe-30_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem3ca5e0ee18QQitemZ260481019416QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucks

Besides, comparing a used car to a new car is totally irrelevant anyway.

Paul.

My mistake on price, and that's true about asking price vs market value. I was referring to the '99 S351 though, not the older ones. At any rate yes 85 thousand is a lot for a Mustang but considering its performance it's not that far off base.
