302 from Exporer

Friend of mine has a complete running 302 from a 96 Explorer, think he said it has 140K on it. I know everyone likes or claims they think the heads and intakes are ok, but would it be worth it to pick this up for $250.00 and use that block to rebuild and use in my Mustang? Are they the same blocks we have or did anything change?

that is a hell of a deal given those gt40 heads alone go for $500 around here, and the intakes about 300. buy that thing
in a second.... or i will! haha

sold, the blocks are the same one used in the create motors (yes they are the same)

Thanks for the response....... I just called him and he is having one of his employees pull it Friday or Saturday.

He owns a salvage yard and I called him to see if he could find me a set of the GT40 heads, when he asked who it was for, and I told him me, he offered me the complete motor.

He just got it Wednesday evening...... It was kind of a fluke. But I told him the next one that comes in to let me know because I am sure someone from here will want the heads and intake.

I do have a contact in Wisconsin that has a set of the GT40 heads for $75.00 per head and then we found another yard that has them for $125.00 per head. I doubt either place would rape you on shipping like they do on ebay. PM me if any of you want the phone numbers.

New question now regarding this block........ How far can it SAFELY be punched out? This is going to be my replacement motor and will be built over the summer while I terrorize the stock motor thats in the car now.
