I have the opportunity to get my hands on a 351W based 408 shortblock. This would mean its been stroked and bored/honed. I dont want to start a big arguement on this but, I have heard people splitting blocks with a stock 302 stoked to 347. It does put some pressure on the block when it is stroked. My concern is that with a 351 stroked out to 408, i would run into the same problem. Would this be of concern? Rycleff? Help out here guys. thanks.

AGAIN! This is not an arguement over the credibility of a stroked 302... :TY:

408s have a way better rod to stroke ratio...they are thicker....better webing throughout...way thicker main caps and bigger main...thus to handle more power.
depends on the power output....i see way to many guys puting down in the 700's with stock roller shortblocks....it depends on tune....and much more....how its built...its hard to say...now if your only lookin for 500-550 i wouldnt worry one bit about it spliting ...i would rape it to 7k all day if it was put together nicely.....but thats just me....my motor is a 84 block 418 with trickflow 205s and 600-650 crank power...im not worried one bit about breaking it....not one bit....and ill be shifting around 7000 rpm....my $.02

almost forgot.....mine is n/a power....boosted power and nitrous is a big killer for block strength...the sudden hit of boost or shot of spray will cause one to come apart...n/a power is much more forgiving in other words( somthing else to consider)

i originally planned to put a edelbrock performer rpm intake on a 306 build... would that be a good enough intake to let this 351 thing breathe or can someone suggest something better?

(I am aware the lower intakes are different) :TY:

302 parts on 351s make 302 power.

If you build a 408 - TFS-R, ported Victor 5.0 (for 351) or EFY spider intake.

Oh. In that case the 60 lb injectors are unnecessary. You could have easily gone with a smaller one and been fine. I guess it doesn't really matter though as long as you limit the pulsewidth with the tune.

Got pics of it? :) Big windsors are neat-oh.
