I came across a 91 fox 4 cyl for a whopping 200 bucks... There is a few 4cyl turbo stangs in the wrecking yard that i can snag the turbo manifold from ... What else would i need to complete this build... Im not trying to make monster power..I just thought that it would be cool to go down to the local 8th mile track and kick the wooter out of some hondas... will it make power or is it just a waist... remember its just going to be a junkyard build...I can do all the fabricating in house so that will keep the cost way down.... any ideas / comments???

I've been helping a friend with a 2.3T build for his '84 Mercury Capri Turbo RS, but I'm not really knowledgeable on the topic. Perhaps someone else here has some experience.

However, those two sites can definitely help you out. The second one is owned by my best friends.

Here's some pulleys I did for him tonight. http://sn95forums.com/index.php/topic,45440.0.html

When building a turbo charged engine there is little to no limit on your options! I had a 400hp Eclipse GSX keep in mind this was a 4cyl running 25 lbs of boost and running consistant low 12's the most important thing to keep in mind is that the better internal parts you put into the motor the more boost it will handle! the more power it will make! a word of warning a junk yard build may end up turning into a $10,000 project! trust me I have been there and i will tell you that there is nothing more addictive than boost Good Luck!!!

Well I don't know what your willing to spend, but here in STL locally huber had his 79 4cyl around 1000 horsepower. It runs in the low 9's. If you know what your doing you can build an absolute monster with those 4 eyed stangs.

I am getting ready this spring/summer to start on my build. It is a 93 mustang coupe, 4 cyl 5 spd, and I have already put a turbo coupe rear end under it, and a different mastercylinder to handle the 4 wheel discs. I have at least one turbo coupe engine and two manifolds with turbos. Go to streetstangs.net and look up 'coupe' he owns a small turbo shop and I am sending him my 86 turbo to rebuild and put different wheels and maybe a different housing too. It's the cheapest route for a quality turbo I could find. I am also going to get with ProM and ask them to make a mass air meter that will work with this set up in a draw through or a blow through setup, which ever one they have more confidence in. I am going to bend the cold side out of 2.5" muffler tubing and use an Ebay or stinger kit for the FM intercooler. I am also going to use the 4 cyl computer and try to tune it with an sct chip. I think with some changes it will work and control the system just fine, if not I will go another route then. But it's worth a shot, lol. I will post up my build when I get started on it.

My first two cars were Turbo Coupes. The second one was running ~300 at the flywheel. Slapped on a bigger turbo, Volvo FMIC, full exhaust, and fuel mods. Beat a few new edge GT's and an LT1. If you want to leave that motor in the car you'll have to tap the pan for your oil return line and grab the feed line off of a donor, as well as all the coolant lines. It's definitely been done before. Tough little motors!
