ok ok, to help save space as far as hood clearance goes, how much fabing would need to be done to put a centful supercharger on 5.4 in our engine bay. iam sure its possible, but how much work/time/money would be involved. the motor already seems to have enough low end grunt, so i think a roots type sc would just be to much for me. plus i when i start this motor swap i want to clean up the engine bay an have onlly whats needed in a nice clean manner, i think its just to much shit going on under the hood in stock form, or am i wrong, any one with any idea what iam talking about? if so please i would love any ideas on how to clean up that mess :hammer:

take a 1/2" thick plate of aluminum and cut it and drill it. That's all any of the blower makers use. ATI told me that's how they'd do it. You only need to match up the plate to the blower head unit and then to any 3 bolts on the front cover. Add some standoffs and you're golden.

So, it's not hard. Don't trip.

Hey red, is it possible to moddify a set of long tubes from a 4.6 to fit the 5.4? i read an article about a dude that had a 5.4 supercharged one and he used moddified 4.6 long tubes... what would you need to do to get that done? thanks

There's no reason they wouldn't bolt on, the exit would just be in a weird place.

If your able to do the swap yourself, expect to be able to handle any supercharger mounting issues....Thats my guess anyways. This swap still looks good for me, as soon as my suspension is done I'll kick it into high gear.

Frame and k member is in the way... thats the only problem i see. But i think the thing said to cut 1" off the runner at the flange... i'm not sure though.

Yeah i dunno about clearance, but it can't be that hard, there's a fair amount of swaps running around now.

I look at it this way, if i can get a set of long tubes for like 200 dollars used thats 400 bucks i can put toward that hardball'r intake or something else. So yea

It is pretty cool that r3d is going the extra mile to help out the 5.4l 2v communitiy.

I would wait on the long tubes too. I use FRPP shorties on mine and can't see how any long tube headers would fit. Space is very limited!

I'm just saying that i can pick them up cheap and then modify them.... i'm not going to pay 600/700 for some long tubes.

Well, if you're feeling frisky, just build your own altogether. I think header tube kit's cost like 200 bucks, then you just need to flange.

i had to shave an 3/4 inch at the flanges plus add 2inches to the tubes to clear the bottom of the body.

I posted back a page or two about the longtube thing...

you can modify BBK longtubes (passenger side needs modded to clear the frame rail), or you can modify flowtech (driver side needs tubes re-routed or flogged with a BFH).

In any case, I'm trying to get this aftermarket manufacturer who must remain nameless for now to HTFU with the scheduling so I can get the prototype longtubes on my car and then they can get them to market. I'd expect a couple months before they're ready. In the meantime, I'd go with the BBK route if you're in a hurry. Use their longtubes and cut the primaries so they don't hit the frame, weld up and hope the welds hold the vibration.

Also, I put in the final specs today to MM for their proposed k-member drop spacers. The drop spacers basically do the same thing as Ford did with the 2000 R's k-member and motor mounts by dropping the motor ~12mm (1/2"ish). I asked them to focus on modular 1/4" stackable spacers in 3 packs. So you'll soon be able to properly drop the motor and tranny .25,.5,.75" with a bolt on kit. What it's going to buy you is a bit of hood clearance, a little tranny tunnel clearance and a little clearance to valve covers, exhaust, steering and AC lines.

I've spent almost 2 years getting this need addressed by MM. You can all thank me and MM by patronizing MM with your business. That goes for HPS and Reichard Racing and MMR as well. All those guys have been really stepping up to the plate early on in the 5.4 game.

My guess is, more than you are willing to pay! At least thats what I decided when I looked at the cost. It appears that the 2v is more than enough for our stock drive train anyways. I did see 1 on ebay a few days back for around 3 grand and I don't think it was complete.

hmmm looks like a waist. You could put one together for cheaper lol.

Well when i save my money up after a couple months at this job, i'm gonna look to either build a hot High comp. 2v or get a 99 up 4.6 4v motor and either turbo or supercharge it. Whichever. I love the way the 4v with boost pulls on top end.
