94 to 01 console converstion help *Javi*

Javi I think you did this before...anyway so ditching the old console for a console out of a 01 cobra or 03 not sure. Anyway Only thing is the wiring. Do I need to splice the two wire harnesses together to make it all work or whats the deal here. I don't absolutely have to have the rear cig lighter working but I would like it to for cell phone/ipod charging.

I did the 94-98 swap which it was a plug and Play,From what i know,now dont quote me on this.


The 01 has the switches above the bezel right? if you want to move the Defrost and the fog light switch then yes you may need to splice the wiring.

Other than that i dont see why you need a custom wiring. :hammer:

Just to be on the safe side get th wiring off the other console.

Ok well I found the harness lol. It was hiding from me outside. The new harness only has a round plug and then the front and rear cig lighter. And on top of that the lighter plugs are completely different in that they are three holed plugs not the ground/power wire like our old timer ones. So I guess I will just go without the rear for now. Thanks for the help javi. Oh by the way I got the longtubes all working with the H pipe I will have to send to a clip when I get one.

When you get as clip just post it on the Whats your exhaust sticky on the 5.0 section. :thumb:

i really want to change out my center console for a newer one so i can use the cup holders. but the only thing i'm worried about is the color not matching?

Bingo. Exactly what I did. I used to have the black/grey and I did my steering wheel and everything else short of the carpet lol. I even used it on the carpet insert on the door and it worked awesome. The flat black duplicolor vinyl dye you can get anywhere matches PERFECTLY. I mean it looks like they based it off the 94-98 black.

I bought the console "black" but we all know its Dark Grey, anyway couple coats of the vinyl dye and it matches perfect. Also, make sure you clean it really good and allow time for the coats to dry and it will be strong enough to not chip off.

I put the 98 console in my 94 recently...I also rewired the Fog lites so that I can turn them on anytime I want, not just with the low beams...so easy to do, I just used the wire for the convertible top as the Fog Lite source instead of the normal interlocked source.
