FYI- the MAF will not correct for the 24 lb injectors. You will have to run a cobra computer, or get a tune to correct the extra fuel.

wat?

That a used clutch??

A maf from ProM or from PMAS will correct well enough for the 24 lb injectors, but if you want to go on the cheap and plan on a tune anyway, you can run your stock maf and get the 24lb injector slope in the tune and it will work ok. You will pick up power going to a larger maf over the stocker especially if you are in the upper 200 hp range. The engine sucks in a lot of air.

sorry to but in, but i was just wondering about this...so i could run the maf that i have right now (set up for 24lb) with 30lb when i get my dyno tune? I have an sct chip that i will be getting a new tune put on after the build is done and i would really like to just keep the 80mm maf i have now...

Yes, you can. Tell the tuner to keep the current maf transfer function and then load the value file for the 30 lb injector slope. WARNING! You will probably be at the very top range of your meter's transfer function, so watch closely to make sure the meter doesn't peg in the upper rpm's. I always datalog maf volts when I am tuning an older car that doesn't allow streaming data.

I think for now, I will run the 19s I have now, when I get a bit of cash saved I have a friend that has a set of 24s with
a matching MAF, I will buy them form him and get it tuned, I planned on a tune either way, I was told with the changes
I am making to the motor, I tune will be a good idea.

yep, tune will definitely be good for you with the aftermarket cam and the 24's. It will idle a little nicer (sometimes aftermarket cams will make your idle jump a little), get more power, and probably better gas milage after the tune! sounds like you have a very good, well thought out plan for a fun car.

Hey All,

Sorry I have been offline for a bit, I have been working on my car, and some family stuff came up, this build has poven to be a bigger money/time pit then I anticipated, but anyways, the motor is in the car, and running, I got the exhaust fixed today, the issue I am having now is the timing, and the EGR pipe, I have tried a few diff types of hosing to extended it, I even bought some high temp 3 ply silicon hosing, that was fine till the exhaust got snugged up, then it blew apart with the back pressure :( So my last chance is to get a pipe welded I have a buddy that is doing it this week for me.

I had an adapter plate made for my explorer Intake, so we could use a modular TB, cause then I could get away with using my current Cable works great. anyways, she's still not perfect, But I have been able to drive it a bit, Lots of power now. only thing I upgraded was the cam I installed a ecam spec'd bump stick.

here's a few pics and a vid of us trying to set the timing.

Enjoy :)

Don
