You have both brought good points to the table, but make another thread about it. This guy was asking for tips with his car.

Anyone ever felt an automatic with a huge stall???? It's disappointing until the higher RPM range, depending on your style of driving. The car will feel like a snail unless you floor it or brake launch it....I just like tapping my pedal and bam.. car takes off hard. Just my .02....I just wouldn't want to floor my car every time I wanted to feel torque.

I would just put 4.10's....3.73's are also pretty beast too

I have an auto. I have 3.73's... feels like the drive shaft is going to snap when I floor it, even from a 60mph roll...but I have other mods

You have a not so well built/ designed converter if it feels like that. My 3800 stall.made my auto 100x better to drive.

What I am saying is that 99.9% of people can not drive well enough to beat an automatics times...so yes, what I am saying is true for those 99.9% of people.

I know in your mind your big shit but and think you can shift faster than an autp but in reality 99.9% of people would run faster times with an auto with a high stall.

Again with the misinterpreting.....yes, you CAN run faster times with a stick, but like I jsut said, most cars would benefit from the auto since most drivers arent that good.

Stop talking about NA 5.0s and this and that, im mostly gearing this arguement towwards 400+ hp boosted cars.....and 10.30s with 380 rwhp? More info on this car? Whats it cut 1.3 60 foots and weigh 2600 lbs?

People who spend enough time at the track to give a shit about their ET will learn to drive it. Just because some talentless assclown will be faster than an autotragic doesn't make it better.

One correction, it was 10.40 - I thought he did a 10.38. 1982 Capri RS. Summit rebuild 306. HCI. 125 shot. Carbureted. Lightweight car. And it cut really fast sixties. This was a decade ago too - no super fancy parts or suspension.

Knee deep in the water some where
auto's will be more consistant. Ive always had 5 spds and this is my first street car with an auto. So far hate it! Lol! I used to bracket race with a 5 spd and I beat the crap out of alot of built race cars with there stalled autos. After we added lots of spray went to a built c4 with a 4500 stall and ran some crazy fast times. I pretty damn good shifting gears but high horse power applications an built automatic is the way to go and alot softer on the driveline. Thgrow a tune at it or run a shift kit and roll with it. You will like it ALOT more when you have it SHIFTING gears nor slipping through them.

probably just the 3.73's

Autos are slow and terrible and are always slower than manuals.

The end.

when my car was bone stock I ran a bone stock 95 gt manual.... I dont remember the time to the tenth but my ET speed was 78mph his was 82mph

A well built converter is the shit man, obviously a looser converter will make the rpms higher under normal acceleration but under higher throttle loads they move out well.

My car accelerated so quickly at 1/4 throttle with the converter it was kinda crazy.

What does that second part have to do with anything? lol

The built autos really start to shine with higher HP cars......with a lower HP car the drivetrain loss from an auto actually makes a difference and also its not very hard for someone to drive a 15 second car well vs sticking with a 10 second car.

And autos with the stock converter are trash...your giving up an easy 1/2 second in ET with the stock converter.
