been playing with this idea for a while now. Actually had the leds mounted and wired and just never really finished wiring the switches up to see how much I hate it. I added 3 leds to each of the brake vents, the grill vents, and behind the pony to light up the plexi I have behind it. I have a potentiometer(variable resistor) that I can use to adjust the brightness. This is not something I plan on driving around with but at night shows I think its not too over the top, not over done(like the rest of the under-body neon/led kits) and something I have never seen anyone else do. I am going to add 3 leds to each side of the side exhaust holes as well but need to figure out a way to make it heat resistant. I was thinking about it tonight and I will mount them to some thin aluminum that I will make some fins on to help draw the heat away from them and it should be ok.

I don't think it's so ricer. I would check local laws. I believe in Tx. it would be illegal. Blue lights (of any kind) is emergency vechles only. Got busted repetedly for blue dots back in the day.

EDIT: didn't chatch the NOT driving with it on.

If you ain't modding you ain't trying.

pretty sure the same laws apply here. I worked with a volunteer fireman and go to know a little more then I wanted to know about flashing lights on cars and from what he said you need a permit for blue/red or even just a wig/wag like some motorcycles use for daytime driving. strictly for shows tonight was the first time. With the pot on the power wire I can adjust them to barely on or full bright but they are not set up to shine striaght out anyway. When I use leds I like to keep the light source hidden and just see the light that it emits. I polished the last 2" of my exhaust tips before I installed them but you can't really see them. I thin with the lights hitting the tips and reflecing out slightly it should give a nice highlight on a part that is often missed.

Like I said though tonight at my clubs cruise-in I wasn't really sure about the lights. Turned them on and then stood back to see the reactions And had some people check them out and didn't notice any laughing or pointing so thats cool. The kids loved them of course. It was also fun to pull into the show and see people reactions to airing out the air ride. Well worth the wait and got to show it off for the first time tonight to my club.

I have to say this is borderline. If i saw an import in a parking lot with all the vents and stuff lit up I'd probably say look at that ricer. The horse is kind of a cool touch but I think that's where the lights should end. All the lights in the vents and stuff, not necessary.

can anyone photochop the pic and copy the light in the brake vent down by the exhaust hole to see what it looks like? I know you can't see where it is actually at but in the general area. I know I am pretty much straddling that ricer line but honestly the more I look at it the more I like it. Think the pony will make for a good sig picture later.

I know I am pretty well straddling that ricer line but don't mind. Hell if you think that is too ricer/much wait till the idea for my door panels comes to fruition.....

not ricer one bit...very nice touch...id ditch the lights in the coops as they just look like random lights..but the lit pony is very cool...i once tought about a little red light behind my caliper so when i hit my brakes it lit would make the brakes glow red like they got hot..i still think that would be kinda cool..

Eh personally IMO it's not something I'd do, the Pony idea is a nice idea but what I think might be kinda cool is maybe if someone did a cut out of the "MUSTANG GT" on the rear bumper and filled it with led's that would be kinda cool. Hell maybe the FORD emblem with a blue led around the emblem that would be cool.

I saw once where someone did the lettering in the back with the electro luminescent sheets/tape and it was ok but didn't catch me as something I wanted to do.

Never thought about it till now but I could cut a piece of plexi to go behind the GT logo on the sides like I did on the horse up front. Going towards too much though, just a thought.

That would be cool, but honestly the led's in the vents is just too much, I'd keep the pony one ad try the GT logo, I bet that would come out pretty sweet

I think if I lit up the logos on the side I would swap in a 5.0. The gt logo would just be a oval-shape where the 5.0 at night would look like a blue 5.0, ya know?

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

my only problem with it is that I have always liked the cursive lookin GT logos that were unique to these years. So after a little more though I had another idea. The GT Mustang logo is raised in a chrome covered plastic, and surrounded by black plastic right? I think I can use my router to carefully shave off black plastic that is the background. Then I will copy the portion that was made of black plastic I just cut off in plexi and paint what was chrome, green like I did the horse in the grill. Then when the plexi is lit up, it will illuminate the GT and the mustang under it perfectly....

This will become a project for the winter I think. Thanks for the help/ideas.

I think its sick, but I like accent lighting. I've had a similar idea to put a lit pony on a speaker box for some time, and run the power wire to the speakers power so it would light up in conjunction with the music. Let me know if that would work or not haha!
