I come home for lunch and as Im about to walk up the steps I hear boom, turn around and the passenger airbag is deflating. :angry4:

Ruined my dash, on top of that I had to take it out quickly because it was extremely hot and smoking. Is it possible my hurry up radio install could have caused this?

Possibley, did you touch any YELLOW wire plugs or modules that say "AIRBAG" on them? That is an expensive mistake, airbags are expensive man. That must really really suck :(

I know where the module is and I wasnt around that area at all. The car had an aftermarket wiring that goes into the factory black and gray connectors. I should note Ive hooked up dozens of stereos and so on and this is my second one to put in this car.

Oh yeah and the airbag light has always been on since I owned it and strangley it made that weird airbag beeping noise when I took off to work which was weird because it doesnt usually do that.

yeah thats what i thought about, it was loud dude.

you have no idea how loud it is if you're in the car. like gunshots next to your head. i went deaf for ~2 minutes

Same here, big boom and then ringing for at least a minute. And smoke pouring out of your car

You can set an air bag off with 9v battery so it doesnt take much. As far as what happen, air bags can only go off 2 ways, Impact sensor or a damage or live feed to the air bag itself of the circuit. You need to start checking for damages in the harness, then did you ever look to see why the light was on prior, not saying this is but you need to know whats going on in that circuit/system before you get into this

the airbag module is mounted right behind the radio on the floor so it is possible, I would start looking there. Just one went off so I would be more suspicious of the actual bag itself rather then the module. It was an option I didn't get in my ranger so I made a great little power distrobution center out of it.

The beeping noise I thought meant you had a warning light burned out?

Wow. I've never heard of that happening like that. Whatever caused i i suspect is downstream from the processors and sensors. Id be willing to bet anyway. Id start really looking closely at the harness starting from the airbag back. I'd probably consider deleting the drivers side airbag as well if your not going to repair the system.
