Is it necessary? Could you explain why? Im not bein an ass just looking to learn. I checked out the guide and seal and both seemed ok. But im also not a machinist.

id take it to a machine shop and have them look at that valve guide.if you just think about it,it makes sense, that valve only has that small channel of a guide to move in,if its bent chances are its moving inside that channel in a not so straight fashion.id also have a machine shop pressure test the heads for good measure.i had a set of just freshened heads on my car for 6k miles,i broke a valve spring so i sent both heads to the shop (fox lake performance) to check out all the springs, well unknown to me i had more leaking valves then not haha but the car still ran and seemed to pull pretty good,i never would have known, pressure test is cheap too.my buddy bent one valve ever so slightly and his guide also had to be replaced, all that plus the pressure test of one head was ony 110 bucks for everything.

thank you for that sir. i suppose if they pressure test bad i would need a valve job as well. i called and they seemed prety nice about just talking with me about what i needed to do. i suppose ill take em up there just to be sure. ill go ahead and order that one valve though and pick up a valve guide just for good measure. That sound about right? id rather spend some cash and do it right then to have to do it again.

ha paint is probably going to get changed up before too long. i enjoyed the two tone look for a while now i want it to look more like a stock car with nice wheels. then build it to sleeper status. thats my ultimate goal. ha. the forged pistons will definately be nice for some boost. i feel i paid a great price for the shortblock too so i consider it an upgrade ha.

Sorry guys. Ive been outta pocket. First lost my iPhone then computer went now I have both back. Here is the update. Block had to be bored 40 over so I went ahead an ordered a set of forged pistons. The crank was ground 10 over. All I'm waking on now is the bearing to show up so I can take them to the shop to have the assembly balanced. I've been going awfully slow since parts are slow arriving. I was able to remove the old block and see the damage. The first rod journal cracke at the counter-balance. Both front rods bent and both pistons cracked. Once that was all removed the rest of the crank spins by hand. The cylinder walla still had cross hatchings in them :( had it not been for the enormous hole in the block it could have been salvaged. If I can figure out how to post pica up from iPhone I will so so.

Download the photobucket app (it's free) and sign up if you haven't already. Upload the pic you want to, once pic is uploaded click on the picture you want, click on the "I" on the bottom right, click on the IMG code and it will automatically copy the link. Paste on here and you're done

Lol the only thing holding the pistons together are the rings ha. If it would've been a clean break I'd prolly still e able to use the block. It's ridiculous how clean the motor was. Makes me sad guys. No carbon ring, cross hatching still there. No sludge anywhere. Oh well. This one will be taken care of well. As soon as funds fall in order I'll pick up a higher quality balancer. I've been told romac is good. As well I'm entertaining the thought that she will run tons better. I also figured out a way to reloom the wiring harness so I do not need o2 extensions.

Lol I'll snap an odometer pic inna bit. That'll really make y'all sick.
I thought i was having a bad night because i cut my battery cable to replace the terminal. Only to realize the cable on there was the shortest you could buy. So i had no slack to use the new clamp on terminal. It was either buy and install a new cable from the starter to battery or figure something out. LOL, but hell your week seems screwed up.

Good luck with everything.

Ok to all who are kinda following, rotating assembly was dropped off yesterday to be balanced. Hoping to have it back by end of week. Still need a few small items. If anyone happens to have a 94/95 crank pulley, I would gladly purchase it from you for a reasonable price. My original was chewed up when the balancer broke I know dome supercharger guys gotta have one close by. Block will be painted either today or tomorrow, studs have already been installed as well as cam, lifters, and spider. Still debating on dropping it in with full tranny installed or just bellhousing in place. Advice is greatly appreciated fellas. It'll be together soon enough.

Well the machine shop surprised me today. They finished balancing the assembly already and not it sits all pretty an torqued to spec in the new heart of the car.
