I've had 2 off eBay myself, the first one was pretty much perfect and the second one needed a little work to get the temp sensor to thread in. Other than that they both looked pretty good for the money, i could never see myself paying 150+ for the name brand ones.

PVC would be better by theory wouldn't it... the whole heat argument.

yeah it doesn't heat up as much as stainless steel tube would.

JLT= PVC i had one..thats alll it is..oh and a price tag to write home about lol

ive heard horror stories about pvc melting under the hood

Then they have something else going on. I'm sure JLT has over 50, of those intakes on the road or more or any car and they couldn't stay in business like that if they just started melting. Now with a blower or turbo set up in there where engine bay temps will rise, also with higher ambient temps I'm sure they can get warm but nothing as hot as a stainless/chrome metalone or C&L that just SOOOOOAK heat and have a rubber boot on the end... so I doubt anything will happen, I ran a JLT on my car for 2 years... not a single problem...

Is a JLT actual PVC pipe or a different sort of plastic piping?

I remember there being a discussion about homemade pipes and someone saying that PVC could potentially give off nasty fumes. Just an idea to toss out there, I could be way off, just wondering.

The JLT certainly looks like PVC material, and some of it could be I suppose, though mine isn't cylindrical, it's oblong in places and curves around. As stated, as long as you have a K&N on the end of a pipe, you'll do ok. Fit and finish is what you pay for with JLT. It was worth it to me . Though those eBay deals don't look bad at all!

i saw one from stack performacne ( i think thats what it was called) looks like your basic bbk / mac / ebay run of the mill c.a.i but its powder coated black and comes with red rubber boots. looks nice.
dont like the blue boots that most kits come with turn baby blue after a while.
i always have like the k/n ones cause there plastic like the jlt but for some reason k/n ran a joke on 94-95 owners. the k/n fitk kit for 94-95 5.0 is just a filter with a maf adapter, that cost more that fox and 4.6 c.a.i. no plastic pipe not even a enging bay seperator box

my V6 mustang had an intake off ebay. it would wistle beacuse the pipe was too short, and therefore wouldnt seal at the TB correctly.

Air flows through the intake way too fast to be heated up by a warmer intake tube, I've never noticed mine getting that hot anyways.

I'd go with the first one if choosing between the two, the second one shows a weird hose that idk why you would need. plus it's more expensive too.

I have the 2ns one its ok fitment wasn't the greatest and they had to send me parts twice and never got all the clamps. I gave up and bought some. The hose goes to the tube below the oil cap the one on the car isn't long enough.
