I'm wondering what hood is needed to clear this intake? I'd like to run a Victor with a 1" spacer but I'm wondering if this would clear a 1.5" Cobra R hood. :dunno:

My performer cleared the stock hood and would easily clear a 1.5" hood with a .5" spacer. And the only difference between the Performer and the RPM is the runner length from the box. I don't see how its possible your intake rubs a 2.5" hood.

I run a Trick Flow R intake wich is probably close to the Edelbrock. I run no spacer w/ a 3" RR hood

Why is it you are wanting to run a 1'' spacer on there? I am running the Victor 5.0 on mine with no spacer and the on ly issue was the lower half of the egr flange and a cutting wheel took care of that. And i have about an inch of clearance to the hood, so it has a little room to move around in there.

What valve covers do you run btw, this is why a lot of people run spacers.

im running the trickflow covers. the only issue was the egr flange where i used the cutoff wheel and look off most of the lower part of the flange and i notched the bottom right side of the flange so the valve cover could be removed with out taking the elbow off. there is a pic about 3/4 way down wehre you can see where i cut http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2386563/4

Its going on a street 331 and I think the 1" spacer is a must to make the runners alittle longer to get back some torque the intake will take. However I'm kind of thinking about going with a RPMII intake but I'm not sure. :wall:

What kind of motor mounts are you running? Also what kind of headers?

if your just a mainly street car i would recommend stepping down to the rpmII as well, im running a s/c and 7000rpm so it fit my build perfect. i am running prothane i believe which i still ahd to modify them to mount them to the dart block but they they sure feel strong ecpecially with the weight of them. and im running BBK longtubes. check that previous link and you can see about everything on the car i still have more to post up but the majority of the stuff is there. and if you have any questions keep them coming.

I don't think on a 331 that the RPMII intake will carry power all the way to 6,500-6,700rpms though. I don't see anyway that is possible short of a heavy port work and then I still doubt it! Its looking more and more like the Victor with the 1" is a clear winner. I'm just wondering what I will have to put over the Victor to have it clear. :wall:

I talked to Rick yesterday and he suggested going with a RPMII intake. However if you look lately at the MM&FF he helped build their 347 and with the parts he suggested it only made 358rwhp through a manual. The MM&FF crew wanted more power so they called him and I quote the magazine "Anderson noted that a different intake manifold should pick up another 20 hp, but in trade it would lose about 30 lb-ft of torque..." after going from the Trickflow Track heat intake to the RPMII intake they picked up both hp and tq all across the board even though Rick said they would lose 30tq. That just kind of makes you wonder. Also their 347 with that intake started losing power at 5,600rpms!!! Granted the cam they used probably is a bit smaller than mine. Still the RPMII is advertised at 1,500-6,500rpms powerband. Keep in mind this is on a 302. Going to a 331 will lower the rpms. Just thinking out loud here...
