I would like to go from my downpipe to a single 3 inch muffler and out the back with one tailpipe if possible. Will it make it over the axle? My downpipe is 3.5 inches, I would even do that if it will fit. Would look like a monster. I also need to be able to trow a converter in the mix once per year for inspectio but that shouldn't be a problem.

why? that will look stupid.

go to a 3 inch muffler and then split it off before the axles or atleast run a dump before the axle or something. anything except SINGLE exhaust.

I ran a single tailpipe on my Z28 and it was tight. Sounded wicked and lured people in.

Running 2 tailpipes on a single exhaust is like a Civic with 2 exhaust pipes, it's kind of ricey. If I was running a twins kit I might do 2 pipes. Besides, from a flow standpoint one large diameter pipe is going to work the best to have minimum backpressure. Less backpressure=more power. I'm also interested in keeping weight down with the single exit.

wear shorts instead of jeans. thats about the weight different between single and dual exhaust.

it would look weird having single exhaust on a supposed muscle car.

but whatever u want man.

I run dual 3" exhaust over the axle. It clears fine. You can fit a single 4" over the axle if you have a good fabricator.

Ummm, No. Dual exhaust is, well, twice as heavy. My exhaust weighs a ton.

I gotta give you a little bit of hell about calling a turbocharged V8 a "supposed" muscle car. :nonono:

It will be a single exhaust no matter what. Both headers merge together and then the exhaust goes through the hotside of the turbo and into ONE DOWNPIPE. Meaning it will be a single exhaust wether I have one tailpipe or two. There is no way around that. Maybe I'll just dump it before the axle and leave the stock tailpipes there as dummies. :hammer: I'm fine with 1 tailpipe, but 0 tailpipes I'm not sure I could deal with. On an SN95 it just doesn't look right without one.

Hang on, do you mean to tell me that steel pipe is heavier than denim? :rollinglaugh:

A single 4 inch would look mean, but the downpipe is 3.5 so a single 3.5 would be PERFECT. I just didn't think it was all that doable.

That GM feeling... Mustangs have has dual exhaust since they came out. How will one 3in exhaust look any diffrent then a civic with a fart cannon.

And not enough back pressure is bad...

To each his own......

I'm trying to say that the weight you are saving by going with single exhaust isn't enough to make a lick of difference.

my flow tubes and tips and mufflers weigh 25 lbs all together at the most.

Wow, I didn't know I was going to have to defend myself for asking a question.

Lets see, how will it be different than a fart cannon... well first off that is the diameter of the tip AND the pipe, not a 2 inch pipe with a 6 inch tip. Second it won't be a big ugly tip like comes with most exhaust systems. I hate those big polished tips that come with the Magnaflow catbacks and things like that. That shit looks more like 2 fart cannons to me.

And I'm pretty sure this little T70 makes plenty of backpressure of it's own, I don't need any extra.

If you could read I corrected myself. How bout we get some engine pics of this T70?

I was just tossing in my .02. As I said to each his own at the end. If you want to run a single are you going to run it through a muffler or straight pipe?

You posted that while I was typing my response to your fart cannon statement. But to each his own right? :wall:

I'm thinking a single magnaflow straight through muffler.

The turbo kit isn't on the car right now, I still have misc bullshit to buy, converting the AODE to manual VB since it is computer controlled and my EMU won't shift it, etc. It's under construction. Here is a pic of the pipes after I pulled them out of the box. The turbo is an MP T70 .68/.70, 44mm Tial WG, 50mm Tial BOV, black ceramic coating, VSracing intercooler, V-Band hotside, no provisions for mass air etc. Nothing special.

Just run dual Dynomax bullets or other bullet type mufflers. The offer little to no backpressure and sound BA.

Are you going to be the one to catch me and laugh? Something tells me probably not.

God forbid we not all have Cobra wheels and Flowmasters.

Once again, we are beating a dead horse here man. I don't fault you for wanting your car to look just like everyone elses. Thats fine. But for me form follows function and the single exit will be very functional, and I will like it. It is after all my car. And noone talked shit about my '94 Z28 when it was running a single busting off 12.80s with bolt ons, gears, and tires.

Take care.

Aww, damn. God forbid someone can't take a joke. And I won't have this car for much longer. Come to SJ when you get that kit on. I won't have to see that single exhaust but you'll get to see how good a SN looks with duals. :thumb:

your car so it really wont affect my day to day dealings whatever you decide, but one huge pipe on the back of a mustang would look a little cheesy IMO. Having the 3" split off for a dual exhaust look really isnt going to hurt too much....hardly noticeable. This topic has been beaten up on the SRT forum. I say if you really need to just do one pipe, consider a dump or a side exit. How much power are you thinking you will be putting out?
