Don't worry I don't take things to seriously. :thumb:

So you are selling your SN and then you are going to build an SN? Why don't you just build the one that you have. Buying and selling cars doesn't get anything done but a bunch of no power making bolt-on cars. Just buy a damned blower and be done with it. At least that way you won't have to lower yourself to having all of your exhaust gasses passing through the same pipe. :p

What would SRT Handz Do?

Well, He would run a 3 inch downpipe off the turbo that would split into a Y pipe that would run into 2 mufflers with tailpipes.

Dont want tailpipes? I would run 3 inch downpipe into a Borla Stinger with a Dump

your car so it really wont affect my day to day dealings whatever you decide, but one huge pipe on the back of a mustang would look a little cheesy IMO. Having the 3" split off for a dual exhaust look really isnt going to hurt too much....hardly noticeable. This topic has been beaten up on the SRT forum. I say if you really need to just do one pipe, consider a dump or a side exit. How much power are you thinking you will be putting out?

In the range of 400-420 at the tires through the automatic, so maybe 500 flywheel. And 3.5 inches is big, but I wouldn't call it huge since there will only be one of them. A lot of cat backs come with 3.5 inch tips, but they are all polished up so I think they look pretty gawdy. I'm not the type to have blinged out shiny crap everywhere.

A built 4V is a little better.

Not with the stock internals.....

Well I would rather have a 3in DP because it is easier to work around but I already have the 3.5 and it's ceramic coated so I don't want to replace it ($$). The 3 in is a bit more expensive from BG because it is a custom piece. I have considered buying one though and running it until I put a big motor and a big turbo in it and need the flow. The other option is running a Y pipe from the DP to the offroad to a standard catback. I had been planning on going this route but with the weight I stand to lose and the backpressure I would be able to eliminate makes the single very appealing. Is a stinger a straight through muffler?

Unless you are planning a full blown every tenth counts race car, I dont think you need to make a decision strickly based off of the weight issue. Sure it will add a few pounds but pffft, thats what boost is for.

I would love to build a 4v someday, but a 351 or a Dart isn't a bad way to go either.

Thanks for the info. My roommate made over 400 at the tires through a power hungry C6 for 10 years with an antiquated TTI kit that was designed with 350 RWHP in mind and a turbo that was out of it's effeciency range. He finaly blew it up at the track getting greedy with the tune up.

Ask yourself that, then don't do it....

Why is everyone so caught up in the looks of the thing? Is this blingblingdoitbigstyleGrides.com? I don't think you could fit a 4" all the way out the back, 3.5" will fit over the axle though for sure.

J.R, people are just stating their opinions on th subject....

I understand that, but he asked will it fit? Not, "will you think it looks cool?"

I'm not trying to be a dick here, but this is the type of thing that slightly annoy's me. There's no performance or safety reason for him not to do it, so just tell him what he asked and go on your way. There's hundreds of threads every week, that I open, read, chuckle to myself, and hit the back button on my browser without saying a word. There's even more that I don't even open, because I know, I have nothing to contribute, or nothing nice to say.

How dare you interfere with the fashion police while they are trying to do their job! :tickedoff: And agreed, if not for Paul this thread would have just left a bad taste in my mouth. Seems like the SN crowd is more into looks and the Fox crowd in into performance. Makes sense though considering what these things run stock.

That's nice of you JR. I usually do the same. I was trying to contribute. Guess I failed on this attempt.

And my car is by far no where near show worthy. Not with the paint flaking off the sides and huge rust spot above the windshield. Honestly though post up and let us know how it turns out.

Yeah you failed pretty well, but it's all good. Everyone talks out of their ass sometimes. It's easily forgivable.

My car isn't a show car either, but it's really nice. 31k original and when I got it almost a year ago it was stock down to the air filter. I tossed ideas around for about 3 months and then decided it needed a turbo. As of right now it's got some piss-on bolt-ons and that's it. I have just been hoarding parts. I still need a wideband, still need some drivetrain parts, just misc crap. Oh, exhaust... Although I have a dual setup if I want to be completely unoriginal about it.

I'll let you guys know how it runs for sure. Right now there is an 8.6lb spring in the gate which on this particular turbo is right where it starts to come on. I might go for more I might go for less. We will see how it acts.

While everyone else argues about what exhaust tips look best, I'll continue to provide tech information. :)

Anyway - my 3" over-the-axle was built to fit around a MM panhard bar, so it may not take the "ideal" path over the axle. I managed to scrounge up couple picture of the "modification" I had to do (read: BFH) to one of the pipes to make it clear my 295s. This was from a previous brake install, so sorry they're not quite as good a shot of just the exhaust. I'm sure any competent shop with a decent fabricator could get a 3.5" over the axle with little trouble provided you don't have a crazy torque arm/panhard bar setup in the back or lots of rear swaybar stuff in the way.

You can see how the pipe needs to snake over the axle then make a rather abrupt turn to clear the gas tank.

Also, make sure that they build the pipe "tight" to the chassis to reduce problems with ground clearance and stuff. You can see how much room the 3" stuff takes up. If you want to quiet it down a bit (I know most folks don't, but I do) then Dynatech makes these neat little low-profile high-flow catalytic converters. Although... I'm not sure if they come in 3.5" diameter.

IMO, I'd run the 3.5" over the axle as high as possible, then have a mandrel-bent 90* turndown right at the end. Paint it black and forget about it - it will be hard to see and be nice and quiet so everyone can listen to the turbo goodness. :)

Paul.
