Well after changing my mind a couple times, i decided to put the car back together so I would have something to drive while doing an ls1 swap into my 85 swb chevy truck. I made a few changes, smaller cam, different lower intake, and few appearance changes. hoping to remain in the 400 rwhp area. I have been learning to tig weld, and decided to build a set of sheet metal valve covers. they turned out pretty nice, considered build a few sets to sell as the moroso sets are crazy expensive. Also built an expansion tank for the cooling system and set it up like the 96+ cars, in hopes of eliminating my overheating problems. Before after about 2-3 weeks of driving it, an air pocket would develop and the car would get hot. i could burp it, and be good for another couple weeks. hoping this will solve my problems.. now a few pics..

Re: Blackpony's build up!

I've always had the t-56 I'm waiting to hear from the machine shop so I will know the final details on the engine, some parts were on back order so we had to change a few things up.... The goal hp wise is 400+ to the tires but I'm not gonna say just yet how I plan to get there... :)

Re: Blackpony's build up!

Hey guys just a minor update. My little brother and myself rolled the car outside the other day and began the grueling process of cleaning under the hood. its pretty dirty and we have lots left to do, but looks a ton better.

This side will stay mostly the same, there will be a few more wires added, but it will mostly all be hidden by the battery and i will try to keep it pushed out of the way...

All the wires on this side will be completely hidden behind the fender..

Re: Blackpony's build up!

thanks!!

had to get a different block as the old one had a crack in the cylinder, and would cost just as much to just start with another block... actually saved me money as i was able to stay .030 and buy a set of used pistons as compared to having to buy a set of new .040 pistons plus the machine work to the block.. hoping to have it all together and maybe running by the end of august...

Re: Blackpony's build up! Updates inside!!!

Haven't updated this thread in a while.. haha, made a little progess today, finished removing the wiring and booster so that i could clean up and paint under the hood. Turned out pretty good for a few bucks in rattle can and scotch brite and acetone... plan to clear coat it tomorrow to help protect the paint and help it last. No plans for a show car, just wanted it to look a little better.

Here she is all stowed away...

Here is the intake I plan to use. Going to change the fittings and lines to black fittings and black lines, also paint the intake silver to match the throttle body a little better.

Re: Blackpony's build up! Updated 1-17-11

was a pita!!! the bolts were cake to get to, it was just getting it out from around the strut tower sucked.. i also found that my master cylinder is leaking from the rear, so a rebuild is in order for it... i hope i dont scratch the paint putting it back in...

Re: Blackpony's build up! Updated 1-17-11

yea all my under hood stuff is removed also... have to get under the dash and remove 4 nuts from the inside along with disconnect the rod from the pedal, then muscle it out.. the two studs that hold the master cylinder were hitting on my strut tower so had to pry it to the passenger side then pop it out... hope it goes back in easier...
