Re: Blackpony's build up! Its Alive!!

Well i got it all together!! Took it around the block to try and seat the rings. It runs like total a*s as i expected.. Needs a tune badly.. Still have a few little things that I want to change, adn need to add the catch can badly as, the are no baffles in the valve covers and it is splashing oil into the breather filters and dripping on the headers... Ill try to get a few vids up later. Hopefully tomorrow i can get the rest of the bugs worked out and to teh dyno next week!! Im stoked!!!

Re: Blackpony's build up! Its Alive!!

The previous setup had 3 bad cylinders, trickflow streetheat intake, shortys, 9:1 and sn95 75mm tb, it made 370 rwhp and 390 tq at the tires, now it has a much better setup so im hoping it makes 400+... Just from driving to break the engine in, it feels very similar to a buddies termy swapped 98 cobra that made 470 at the tires... not quite as tqy but seemed to accelerate just as quick... I dont know, we will find out very soon!!!

Re: Blackpony's build up! Un-tuned dyno numbers inside!

Well took it to the dyno today, diddent have time to do any tuning except adding and removing timing at the dizzy, it made 404.7 hp and 361 tq SAE numbers at the tires. That is completely un-tuned on the bone stock computer!!! Very happy with the results!! With a good tune it should make 10-15 more hp across the board!! Pretty stoked!! Also was able to get the tail pipes to fit! Sounds freaking great!!! I cant wait to get it tuned and running correctly!!

Very nice! Those power/torque curves look great, seems like it will only need a little bit of tunning to get right. Time to go pick on some 2011's

For anyone interested, I will be selling the engine from this car. Intake to oil pan and qa1 k-member. Planning a coyote swap with a d1 in the future. I will be getting rid of everything that i cannot use. Will not part out until i can secure a buyer for the motor first. it is still in the car, you can hear it run. I have all receipts for all the machine work etc. Lmk if anyone might be interested.

I dont think it will be too bad. I work at a shop in mckinney tx and we have a place contact us last year about take out 5.0s for a really good price. Although they are from a truck rather then a car, i may end up with cams anyways so that shouldnt be a problem. Also with all these companies offering parts, swap parts are becoming very affordable. I think it can be done for less then 8k..
