whats so hard to believe about a 5.0 with 2.73's rolling at 1900rpm for 390 miles.... its only like 26mpg.

now with 3.73's i get to go a slower mph if i want to try to catch the 26mpg i net mainly around 20-24 now on the freeway depending on how im driving.

Dude i havent driven 390 miles straight but when Im cruisin on the freeway, which is most of my miles, I have NEVER got anywhere near 390 miles. I usually cruise around 1800rpms. Now you got me wondering whats wrong with my car...Its cammed with no tune, but damn is that worth over 100 miles?

I'm lucky if I get ~150 miles a tank around town. Never really done any interstate/freeway driving with it long enough to calculate that mileage though.

your tune and cam are probly your problem... im still stock cam stock heads.

what cam did you put in?

my motor is stock...nothing done aside from coil and exhaust..bone stock motor...how do you know if the mass air is bad..

Yours sounds just like mine. And I always thought mine is fine. One thing though is check the filler neck gasket. You might be leaking gas though there. Its a round grommet looking thing on the side of your gas tank. Yeah I get about 130-150 miles per tank city driving and ill have a heavy foot here n there. As far as freeway I could make a round trip from Bakersfield to LA and back and still have a lil left which is about 260 miles.. I dont believe you can get 390 to a tank. Maybe on a v6 and thats a MAYBE.

Sheeeiit my 6 got 400 miles to the tank one time, my last road trip that was 55 mph the whole way. We were short on money lol. I'm only getting 275 (the 6) to a tank and that's 80% highway. New motorcraft plugs wires fuel filter has 2k on it, K&N filter, and oil change. I do have an exhaust leak but it never affected anything in 19k miles of driving it. My 02's have never been changed either but there hasn't been a CEL for them.

Ahhh I see, On Freeways im usually cruising from 75-80mph between 2200 n 2700. I also have stock gears with nothing but CAI and Xpipe, if that makes any difference. Im soooo gonna go to LA and back not passing 65mph and see what happens LOL

to add to this a little bit, my 302 runs very well. i just did the first tune up on it in 3 years. the autolite 25's that came out look like they could go another 50k miles without issue. new plug wires helped a bit, my coil wire had corrosion on it where it meets the coil.

i've never had a major issue with the engine other then my balencer crappin out in the driveway and my 02's when i first picked it up.

try cleaning your maf and see if it helps how she runs...

I dont know how you got 390 miles on a tank Ive got a v6 and only get 260 on a tank and I rarely ever get on the skinnie peddle yall thinking yalls cars have gas mileage problems..

I also own a 95 V6 and last fill-up I got 21.65mpg combined city/highway driving or 333 miles with a 15.4 gal tank.
