Bassani or SLP?

Ok guys, time for this question to be asked. Ive had a MAC catted H and SLP LM1 catback on my car for over a year, loved it and will miss it now that it is gone. My current setup is a MAC o/r H and some form of very large Flowmaster, my guess is that it is atleast a two chamber as it is monstrous, and rather quiet to be paired with a non catted midpipe. I am going to be getting a new catback within a month or so and am now torn between Bassani and SLP. The LM1 is out of the question because I know that it will be far too loud, undrivable loud. (You like my word?) Ok so that leaves the LM2 and Powerflo systems. I am scared that the Powerflo will be too quiet, but at the same time Im worried the LM2 will still be just too loud.

That brings me to the second part of my inquiry here. Is there a Bassani catback that will be comparable in auditory levels to the SLP products? Like I said, I dont want run of the mill Mustang exhaust noise, I want to embarrass anyone who revs at me (for the most part anyways) but still dont want LM1 and o/r midpipe kinda sound. David(Scarface) has told me from what he understands, the LM2 paired with an o/r H will be similar to a catted mid and LM1s. Any info on this? I have looked a good bit but have not found much. Thanks for any help or advice.

P.S. I have been drowned out by an LT1 Camaro and a Dodge truck that is owned by a girl in the last 2 days...I am very unhappy about this. :slap:

hmmm...well personally I don't like SLP for the lack of tone that it has. But I have heard a Bassani cat-back with an o/r x on a cobra and it sounded pretty good, relatively mellow cruising but screams at WOT. I've never heard it with an o/r H though as it seems most are paired with x's.

^Yea, f*ck X pipes, they suck ass. I thought my old setup had alot of tone and most people loved it. Is there only one kind of Bassani muffler?

x pipes flow alot better than h pipes. as far as sound goes you can either have really loud or sounds really good. the systems that are really loud sound like a@@

Honestly the difference between an H and X on a mildly modified Mustang is literally unnoticeable

I haven't heard LM IIs in person, so here are some vids for comparison. Not too many mustang with LMII vids out there as of yet. I just got some used bassani's in just fair shape and they still sound incredible very much like the street comps vid below. As far a Bassani mufflers only go, they do have several kinds, just not SS only aluminized. Catbacks are available in SS or Alumized, but I believe the same muffler design is used between the two. If I remember right, they used to have a "street" and a "race" catback available, but don't see that anymore.

I like the tone on the Bassani systems a lot, my friend Sean has it on his 97 Cobra and it sounds great.

Bassani will not be nearly as loud as the LM but it is still pretty loud. If you step on it or rev you can snap peoples necks haha.

You really need to hear a Bassani catback combined with an H pipe before deciding, because it sounds completely different than the Bassani system with the x. The Bassani system (catted x and catback, or midlength headers all the way back) is probably my favorite exhaust system for the mustang, but mated with an H pipe or even a prochamber it's just kinda blah. Without the x it retains that chambered sound that's very similar to MACs and flowchokers, the last thing you want to do is spend $600 for a catback that sounds like every other mustang on the road.

Another option would be Borla Stingers. They aren't as insanely loud as LM1s and they have a deeper rumble to them. The catbacks are made for 99-04 GTs but it'd fit if you relocated the hangers. They sound great with an O/R H, also sound great with an x, especially a Bassani X.

I haven't heard LMII's in person but I'd highly recommend them as well as stingers. And I noticed a huge difference in tone when going from the stock H to a catted X, not just a louder sound and I'm stock.

I say go bassani. The catback on your car is the American Thunder system.

Wyotechs car has an IRS swap. He needs a catback from a 99+ cobra.

Good to know. They make catbacks for IRS cars as well

I have a bassani cb and catted bbk h pipe(changing to a cattless midpipe soon). i love the sound but i dont think it is anwhere near as loud as slps. now with an or h or x i would think it would be close. I have heard good things about lm2s and offroad x and h's. I would say bassani w/o cats but its a tough choice
