What is the black plastic fin under the front bumper? Is it there to protect something from stone chips etc?

It's a 1996 GT. I'm not talking about a chin spoiler, it's tucked further under the car.

lowered the car last week, and it's now scraping on speed humps, looks like it's only attached by fir trees. Am I safe to remove it?

thanks, Mart.

I remember reading its there to route air flow to the radiator to keep the car cool.

Probably safe to remove it in the UK then as it's bloody cold and wet for the majority of the year!

remove it if you don't do much highway driving. mostly helps with higher speed air deflecting. these cars are bottom feeders when it comes to rad air flow.

My temp needle seems to have gone up slightly. Normally sits on the R, but since removal has started fluctuating between the R and M, I'll put it back on. ;-)

It's weird that some have them and others don't. I bought my Cobra brand new and it didn't come with one.
