Damn man there is no need for this big of brakes! It's a mustang not a Ferrari or lambo, and if you don't use it for the track Wtf is the point?

You are right, for a street mustang, installing a big Brembo rear brake system is unnecessary for most poeple. However, any super car has big brakes all around and Whenever I saw a Ferrari or a Lambo brake system, I had too many " why don't mustangs come with overkill, outragous and unnnessary Brembo brakes at all 4 corners too kind of thoughts. Ford also put togeather a Brembo 4 piston caliper system at all 4 corners way back in 1994 for the one off Boss 10.0 mustang so if Ford went to through the time and expense of fitting Brembo 4 piston calipers on all 4 corners of a SN95 mustang I knew that one day I would do the same to my SN95. Finnally, that day has arrived.

The roots of my Brembo nutswinging. Way back in 1994, Ford's SVE engineering division fits Brembo billet 4 piston calipers and drilled 2 piece rotors at all 4 corners on the boss 10.0 mustang

1998 and Ford fits Brembo 4 piston calipers on front and rear on the super stallion mustang

For sure, installing a big brake system on the rear of a mustang is one of those things that you either get it or you don't. I think it's cool for my car to have an almost identical rear brake system as this Ferrari F360.

Knowledge. I posted because of knowledge. I have come to realize in my short time here that you know a lot. Not everyone does. Hopefully someone, somewhere, can take something from that article in regards to brakes, brake "warping", bedding procedures, and pad compounds.
Thanks for that imformative post!

I finally finished bleeding the brakes and I went on a long drive with the new rear Brembo brake system. Pedal feels nice and firm and I really cant tell much of a difference with the new brakes other than the looks. I never bothered to note the stopping distances before and after the big brake upgrades.

One big advantage with the Brembo system that I will enjoy is that pad changes are now a million times easier; just push out two pins and the pads come right out. No need to remove the caliper and no more messing around with trying to screw in a piston with a special tool. The only tools I need to change pads with the Brembo's is a hammer and a punch to drive out the pins. It will proboly be a long time before I need to change the rear pads as they are more than twice the size of the OEM pads.

pretty much all of the reasons why I went to a four piston in the rear years ago. I can change an entire axle in 5 mins. Love em.

After many months of slow progress on my custom Cobra IRS brake system with Brembo 4 piston calipers and Brembo E brake calipers, I am starting to see some progress. All I need to finish off the install is some banjo bolts that nobody around my place stocks.

Almost done.

Would you be willing to duplicate this kit?

On topic but off topic

I have a friend currently installing hyundai genesis brake calipers and nissan rouge 13inch rotors on his acura tsx(i forgot the year model) but its all bolt on. I told him i was going to pull one of the front wheels of my mustang just to compare mounting aspects. Anyhow, the genisis caliper is 4 piston, solid aluminum with hyundai kia embossed markings bought from rockauto for $160ea and supposedly made by brembo. My 96 gt is in need of a brake upgrade and how fantastic it would be if this scenario worked out!!! Time is not on my side currently, but ill dig in and report back on this.

Here you see a tsx Acura with the big genisis brake caliper and nissan rogue big rotor from a 3rd row seating rouge(specific 3rd row seating nissan rouge)

The reason im jumping on this is because the acura rotor and the stock 96 mustang gt rotor are identical minus the hub bore i.d. and the overall diameter. The acura hub bore is smaller and the overall diameter is bigger, but relative location center to the caliper is identical along with the 5x4.5 bolt pattern.....with that said ......and so is the nissan rouge 3rd row seating rotor. The nissan rouge rotor is 13inch o.d. Its not a problem increasing hub bore diameters that would be needed to the acura/rouge rotor to allow them to slip on.

The stock mustang spindle caliper mounting holes are 5.125" center/center while the hyundai genisis 4 piston caliper is roughly 5.500".....iirc. I need to measure and write down these numbers, but you guys see there is a possibility for an awesome brake upgrade on the cheap.
