Mach 1s come with 305 hp stock, its alot easier to get the mach to 300 rwhp than a mark viii motor. If you do full bolt ons with those c heads you will have atleast 315-330 hp to the crank. I could be wrong but I honestly dont think you get 300 rwhp with the mods you listed and C heads. Good luck with the build

Do they really? I almost went to go look at one before I got my 95 lol. Thing had full exhaust, gears, tb, and i think nos too lol. have fun with that mark motor, they got balls even stock. Thats one thing i dont like about my 95 5.0, is that my other car which went back to my dad (is a stock 1995 lincoln mark 8) and that thing would wipe the floor with my 5.0. One day i want to swap a mark 8 motor in my 95 lo
. That or get a 2014 5.0 stang next year :O

If I sounded like I was trying to be an assclown I'm sorry. Its been a long day. Yea the few I've seen stock have been around 300whp. Gears and bolt one are usually good for mid to low 12's. I love them things.

I don't know what you are smoking. Hitting 300+ isn't really a problem with a mark motor.

You need=

B heads (don't port them)
Cobra intake
Cobra cams
Longtubes
all other basic bolt ons
A quality tune

This should get you to the 290-305whp range no problem.

Add a short runner intake and make 315+.

Add some good aftermarket cams and make 340+
It's been done no problem.

C heads will make a about 10-20 more hp. And down low they perform better.
But up top B heads can perform very well. Ask me how I know...

But without using at least the 96-98 cobra intake cams and cobra intake you won't get close to your goal.

Not smokin anything, just didn't really think 300+ rwhp would be possible with the mods he listed. But, I don't know everything so I'm glad other people posted so now I know its possible. And your right, without the cobra intake and cams it'll be a lot harder to get your goal of 300 or so rwhp. The mark motors have a really restrictive intake manifold, so the cobra will definately be a huge difference. Mark 8 motors love cams, you'll pick up a bunch of hp with them, and remember to get longtube headers because factory mark viii manifolds are really restrictive just like the intake, that motor is begging to breathe.

Oh speak of the devil. My C head swap project for motivation.

If you run tumble port heads on a B head shortblock, you will be rocking a 9:1 compression. Stock correct cobra compression is 9.85:1. Tumbleports are 99-01 heads specifically, and the only years of the 54cc combustion chamber. The 99-01 cobras have different pistons, I've confirmed this physically myself when building my mish mash of a motor. A correctly built C head motor with close to 10:1 compression, heads, ported TB, Maf, injectors, Aluminum flywheel, and a good tune can get pass 300rwhp very easily. It's been done. Especially with good cams it helps greatly. I'm running 99 intake cams which only vary slightly in terms of duration compared to the 98's. Good luck on the build, mines been a slow arduous process but should be going in soon.

Mine is an 03 aviator motor which I'm currently swapping parts over onto it to install it into a gt that I'm getting ready for my brother. I bought a 04 mach timing cover, 04 mach oil filter adapter, 03 mach alternator, 04 mach water crossover, 03 mach lower intake, and 01 cobra intake lid. Now just need to find some 98 cobra cams to wake it even more in the 6k+ rpm's and some lt's. This friday I received the throttle and cruise cables so its getting close.

^^^Aviator motors use the exact same heads/cams as mach 1's and 03-04 cobras so I just need any set of 99-04 dohc lt's.

Is that a 5.4 aviator or 4.6

Aviator is 4.6 and Navigator is 5.4. I don't have a picture of it, I don't know why but right next to the aviator motor I have a complete from oil pan to TB 5.4 DOHC navigator motor. I plan on doing an n/a 11.0:1 compression 7500rpm motor. I think I can muster 430+hp from it.
