Camaro ZL1 Beats Shelby GT350R Around Willow Springs

These cars are getting stupidly fast these days. That Camaro (with a manual trans) is right up on the rear bumper of both the Porsche Turbo S and GT3.. On a different day the Camaro dipped into the 1:26 range, making it quicker than that McLaren 570 and putting it right behind a GTR and a Porsche 918. IMO it's cool to see American cars being so competitive especially performance per $ but they're kind of getting a bit too fast. I doubt the average owner will be even able to push the car to 7 tenths without pooping themselves.

I still like the Shelby more though

I love it. Between Mustangs and Camaros posting performance like this; Corvettes smacking around Ferraris and running with supercars, and just the fact that something like the Challenger Hellcat even exists makes me very proud to be an American.

Yeah these performance wars will be legendary. History kind of repeats itself so I wonder if these cars will be remembered like the classics from the 70s were. Maybe in the future everything will be eco friendly and restricted so people will look back like these were the golden days.

Might make for a good investment to snag one of these when they dip down in price on the second hand market and keep it in a barn for some decades

Definitely a close drivers race. Insane to see how competitive they are with other cars that cost much more

I know! Also if you guys look closely, a friggin Camaro SS matched the GT350R time haha

for reference that puts it ahead of the new Audi R8 V10 plus, new CTSV, C6 ZR1, R35 GTR (non nismo), Jaguar F type R (awd), last gen Viper, Gallardo, etc etc literally a ton more Porsches (even a GT3 RS). It's 17th/18th overall on the list which is bonkers. Realistically it's the best performance per dollar car out there right now.

I didn't see the S550 Mustang GT 5.0 on the list so who knows where that'll end up. The S197 5.0 is like 68th or around there. Right behind a 911 Carerra, which ain't toooo bad for a live axle.
